2026 Polycarbonate Sheet Industry: Product Iteration Empowers Segmented Scenarios, Green and Intelligent Transformation Takes Root

Since 2026, China's polycarbonate (PC) sheet industry has entered a critical period of high-quality development. The industry structure has shifted from scale expansion to quality improvement, and product characteristics have continued to iterate and upgrade to accurately meet the needs of high-end manufacturing and green development. It has shown distinct characteristics of "high-end agglomeration, product segmentation, green in-depth cultivation, and intelligent empowerment", which is significantly different from the previous development stage.
The core characteristics of the industry are prominent this year, with high-endization becoming the mainstream trend. The proportion of high-end PC sheets has increased to over 50%, and the demand for optical-grade, automotive-grade, and medical-grade products leads the industry in growth rate. The intelligent transformation of the production end has accelerated. Over 60% of the new production capacity adopts intelligent production lines, and the product defect rate has dropped to below 0.5%. The melt transesterification method has become the dominant process, with its production capacity accounting for more than 50%, greatly reducing energy consumption and pollutant emissions.
Product characteristics have iterated to adapt to diverse scenarios. The light transmittance of optical-grade PC sheets has increased to over 92%, and the haze is controlled within 1%, adapting to the needs of vehicle-mounted displays and AR/VR equipment. Automotive-grade products have achieved dual upgrades in light weight and impact resistance, with the per-vehicle usage expected to reach more than 20kg, helping the transformation of automotive lightweight. Green products have continued to make breakthroughs, the recycling rate of recycled PC sheets has increased to over 50%, bio-based PC has entered the initial stage of commercialization, and the proportion of environmentally friendly products exceeds 15%.
Downstream application scenarios continue to be segmented. New energy vehicles, photovoltaic, and 5G communications have become new growth pillars. The annual demand for photovoltaic PC sheets exceeds 100,000 tons, and the supporting demand for 5G base stations reaches 150,000 tons. Insiders said that in the future, enterprises need to continue to focus on differentiated product R&D, deepen segmented scenarios, promote the localization of core technologies, and at the same time connect with international green standards to further consolidate the industry's global competitiveness.
