In 2026, China’s polycarbonate industry accelerates high-end transformation with continuous core technological breakthroughs. Domestic leading manufacturers have successfully developed high-performance PC products, breaking the long-term overseas market monopoly.
In May, the mass production of 20% silicon-containing copolymer PC was officially realized, filling the domestic market gap. The product features excellent low-temperature resistance, with impact resistance increased by more than 30% at minus 60 degrees Celsius. Featuring high light transmittance, heat resistance and weather resistance, it is widely used in aerospace, low-altitude aircraft and high-precision electronic equipment. Meanwhile, self-developed high-viscosity PC has reached international advanced technical standards, effectively breaking the application bottleneck of domestic high-end PC.
Eco-friendly low-carbon technologies also achieve fruitful results. The domestically developed bio-based PC complete production technology has passed national appraisal. Replacing traditional raw materials with renewable monomers, the finished products are safe and non-toxic, suitable for food packaging and medical device manufacturing. At present, the market price of high-end domestic PC is 2 to 3 times that of ordinary products. With continuous technical upgrading, China will further reduce import dependence and seize more shares in the global high-end polycarbonate market.
