Sound Barrier

PC panels effectively block transmission of road, railway and construction noise. Transparent PC sound barriers maintain good noise reduction effects while keeping sightlines unobstructed, avoiding the dull enclosed feeling of fully opaque metal or concrete noise barriers. Hollow multi-wall PC sheets deliver dual sound insulation through internal air cavities, offering better noise reduction than single-layer glass of equal thickness.

PC sheets are 200 times more impact-resistant than glass. Flying stones from vehicles, hail, accidental collisions or vandalism will only leave indentations instead of breaking the panels. No sharp broken fragments will fall onto roads or pedestrians, eliminating safety hazards for highways, viaducts and residential noise barriers.

High-quality co-extruded PC sheets block 99% of ultraviolet rays. Under long-term outdoor exposure, they resist yellowing, fogging and embrittlement. They remain transparent and clean for years, unlike ordinary transparent plastic that turns yellow rapidly, ensuring consistent landscape visibility of urban sound barriers.

PC withstands temperatures ranging from -40°C to 120°C without cracking or softening. It resists erosion from acid rain, vehicle exhaust, road de-icing salt and coastal salt spray, making it suitable for highways, coastal roads and industrial zone noise barriers with harsh corrosive environments.

PC weighs merely half the weight of glass of the same thickness. It greatly lowers the bearing load of steel support frames and foundation piles for sound barriers. Light supporting structures can be adopted, cutting raw material, transportation and installation costs, and shortening construction periods.

PC sheets can be cut on-site and cold-bent into curved, arched and inclined shapes to match linear designs of overpasses and curved roads. Custom sizes and special-shaped panels are easy to produce, meeting diverse landscape and engineering design requirements.

PC material reaches Class B1 flame retardant grade. It self-extinguishes once away from fire sources and does not produce dripping molten burning debris. It meets fire safety requirements for roadside sound barriers along highways and urban traffic lines.

The smooth surface of PC panels repels dust, mud and road grime, which can be cleaned easily with water washing. UV-protected PC sheets have a 10-year outdoor service warranty, requiring few repairs or replacements and lowering long-term operation costs of municipal noise barrier projects.
