Product Description

Corrugated Polycarbonate Plastic Roof Panel for Greenhouses, Canopies & Industrial Roofing

Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. make corrugated polycarbonate plastic roof panels from 100% virgin polycarbonate resin, grade of Covestro, Bayer or SABIC, thickness from 0.75mm to 3.0mm. The company also was one of the main drafting units for the national standard of China on polycarbonate sheets (released September 29, 2024; implemented April 1, 2025), indicating a documented depth of technical involvement in this material category, with 3 production bases, 25+ production lines, and 60,000+ tonnes of annual output.

Why Corrugated Polycarbonate Outperforms Traditional Roofing Materials?

Glass is heavy, it breaks on impact. Metal roofing eliminates all natural light. Fibreglass gets yellow and brittle with age.

All of these constraints are overcome by corrugated polycarbonate. It offers up to 90% light transmittance — similar to glass — at a far lower weight. It’s around 250 times more impact resistant than normal glass, so it’s far less likely to shatter from hail or debris.

Not surface coated. UV protection layer co-extruded into polymer matrix at 50-100 microns. This incorporation into the structure decreases UV deterioration and is designed to preserve the light transmission over 80% for 10 to 15 years under direct sun exposure. Performance will vary depending on installation circumstances and the UV index of the geographical area.

Profile Options and Customization

We have more than 70 moulds for trapezoidal and round-wave profiles, so we can match most typical world-wide metal roofing pitches, without any additional tool costs. Normal order moulds are supplied free of charge.

Custom Profile Design with New Tooling for Non-Standard Needs Including OEM and ODM Development for corrugated polycarbonate plastic roof panel. CNC cutting, film coating, bending, custom shape cutting for specific product needs for additional processing options. If your project has unusual profile or dimensional requirements please supply the drawings for discussion of viability.

Application Scenarios

Agriculture: Hothouses. The corrugated design provides stiffness in the structure against wind and snow loads The diffused natural light allows the plants to photosynthesise. Optionally an inside surface hydrophilic anti-drip coating may be used to enable the condensate to form a thin film rather than drops and thereby avoid harm to the crop.

Warehouses & Industrial Skylights: The panel may be fitted to typical metal purlin systems. This eliminates the demand for artificial lighting throughout the day and boosts the light levels for workers.

Sports facility, pergola and canopy: The lower weight of the panel relieves the supporting supports of load. It can be bent longitudinally to a minimum radius of approx. 4 m and hence may be used for arched and domed design.

Corridors, swimming pool coverings and curtain walls. Self-extinguishing fire rating (Class B1). Temperature range from -40 °C to +120 °C. Suitable for enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces with more stringent safety standards.

Quality Control Process

Each sheet is inspected at three stages, on receipt of the raw material, throughout manufacture and on delivery.

Tests include accelerated weathering for Yellowing Index (Delta E), a Falling Dart Impact Test to ensure no fracture under extreme impact, UV layer thickness measured by spectroscopy (minimum 50 microns), and simulations of load bearing for wind and snow pressure in the target geographic zones.

Sinhai also was one of the major drafting units for the Chinese National Standard for Plastics — Polycarbonate Sheets, which was formally issued on September 29, 2024 and implemented on April 1, 2025.

Supply, Delivery, and Logistics

Standard manufacturing lead time for corrugated polycarbonate plastic roof panels is around 7 days. The Kashgar manufacturing site offers a direct logistical path and a delivery window of about 7 days for buyers in Central Asia.

Regional purchasers in Tashkent and Dushanbe have local stock in storage facilities and do not have to wait for cross-border manufacturing cycles. We can ship by sea, truck or air freight, and assist with customs clearance and cross-border paperwork.

FAQ

Q1: Will this panel work with my current metal roof profile?

A: With 70+ available moulds - trapezoidal, round wave, and others - most conventional worldwide metal roofing profiles may be matched without any frame change. Custom tooling development might provide non-standard pitches.

Q2: Does polycarbonate expand and compress with temperature?

A: Yes. Polycarbonate has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than metal. Pre-drill holes 2-3 mm bigger than screw diameter to enable free movement and minimise cracking at fixes.

Q3: How many screws are required for each sheet?

A: 5-6 screws per purlin for a normal panel of 1050 mm wide. Fix at crest (top of wave) not in valley, to avoid water infiltration at fastening points.

Q4. Are the roof panels safe to walk on during installation?

A: No. Corrugated polycarbonate sheets are not intended to sustain the weight of a human. Use ladders or roof boards spanning across the support purlins during installation.

Q5: Can this panel be used on sloped roofs?

A: Yes. For typical wave profiles, the product may be longitudinally bent to a minimum radius of around 4m and therefore used with arched greenhouse roofs and canopy structures.

Q6: How long will the panel endure in direct light exposure?

A: The co-extruded 50–100 micron UV layer is intended to retain light transmittance of over 80% for 10 to 15 years under continuous UV exposure for each panel. Performance depends on the regional UV index and installation circumstances. To learn how to apply, please contact us.
