Polycarbonate Connection Accessory H and U Profiles — Joining and Sealing System for PC Sheet Installation
Precision-extruded components known as polycarbonate connection accessory H and U profiles are used to unite and seal multi-wall or solid polycarbonate sheets. Made from 100% virgin PC resin with a coextrusion of UV protectant, our profiles accommodate panel thicknesses of 4 mm to 20 mm and come in standard lengths of 2.1 m, 5.8 m and 6 m, with bespoke lengths available. They back a dry glazing technology that enables panels to expand and contract freely as temperatures change.
What H and U Profiles Do?
The H profile, also known as a jointing profile or joiner profile, is used to connect two polycarbonate panels side by side along a continuous longitudinal seam. The two sheet edges are contained inside its channel and it provides a 3 to 5 mm thermal expansion gap per metre span to avoid stress build-up during temperature cycling.
The U profile (sometimes termed an end cap or sealer) seals the open flutes at the top and bottom edges of multi-wall sheets. This prevents dust, moisture, insects and algae getting into the hollow passages. The sheet will last longer.
Combined these two designs provide a full edge and joint management solution for polycarbonate glazing systems.

Material and Technical Properties
These profiles are manufactured from 100% virgin PC resin. The UV protection layer is applied via co-extrusion and is therefore permanently bonded onto the profile surface, and not coated as a separate post-production process. A co-extruded UV layer will not peel or break down over time from continuous sun exposure like surface-applied coatings.
The profiles, after accelerated weathering testing according to ASTM G154, are said to have a Yellowing Index (YI) below 3, suggesting the profile keeps optically clean throughout long-term outdoor usage.
The impact strength of polycarbonate material is up to 250 times higher than that of glass, which makes the profiles resistant to hail impact – a critical feature for exposed roof and greenhouse applications. The service temperature range of -40°C to +120°C supports cold-climate and high-heat situations.
Dimensional Accuracy and Quality Inspection
In manufacturing, dimensional accuracy is checked using calliper tolerance checks. The internal channel width is found to be ±0.2 mm from the intended sheet thickness. Loose fit causes the sheets to rattle, while tight fit impairs thermal expansion, and both hinder installation.
The impact resistance of the profiles is checked by the Falling Dart Impact Test (ISO 6603) and they do not fracture upon impact. The resistance to stress cracking is also evaluated in an effort to guarantee stability when the profiles come into contact with construction adhesives and gaskets.
Installation note: These profiles are compatible with neutral-cure silicone sealants. Acidic silicone chemical stress cracking of polycarbonate.
Typical Applications
Commercial Greenhouses
H profiles offer continuous multi-wall PC spans with a leak-tight junction. U profiles are used to close the sheet ends to avoid algae development in the flute channels, which occurs when the margins are left exposed.
Architectural Roof & Skylights
For clean, transparent finishes, polycarbonate connection accessory H and U profiles are used in shopping mall canopies, sports stadium roofs, and transportation corridor glazing. The profiles are engineered to resist breaking or pulling away from the frame during repeated temperature cycling and wind-load stress.
Residential Patio and Carport Shelters
The dry glazing snap-fit technology enables non-specialist builders to obtain waterproofing results for patio covers, carports and pergolas with simple equipment and without the need for heavy gear.
Sound Barriers and Partitions
Vertical stability and tight joints in vertical applications maintain the panels aligned under wind pressure over lengthy spans.
Aluminium framing compatibility
The profiles are to be mounted in or on aluminium sub-frame constructions. They provide a flexible junction, and a thermal break, between the aluminium and the polycarbonate sheet that relieves tension from differential thermal expansion of the two materials.
Customization and Supply Options
Custom colours available upon request including colour matching to polycarbonate sheets in your order. Stock colour is clear standard.
Custom lengths are available – e.g. 5 m pieces cut from the 6 m standard stock. We can put your OEM label on plastic bags or boxes for packaging
Kashgar manufacturing base provides delivery for Central Asia customers within about 7 days. Faster regional fulfilment is possible thanks to local warehouse resources in Tashkent and Dushanbe.
Sourcing Profiles and Sheets from One Supplier
In case polycarbonate connection accessory H and U profiles are bought from the same manufacturer as the PC sheets, the profile channel width is calibrated to the precise sheet thickness tolerance utilised in manufacturing. The colour match is perfect. Freight and paperwork are reduced by combining shipments into one container.
One manufacturing chain supplies the Sinhai covers sheets, the H profiles, the U profiles, the F-snap connections and the hardware accessories.
FAQ
Q: What panel thicknesses do these profiles fit?
A: The profiles fit panel thicknesses from 4 mm to 20 mm, covering the full range of multi-wall and solid polycarbonate sheets.
Q: Can profiles be made in custom colors?
A: Yes. Custom colors are available on request, including color-matching to the polycarbonate panels in your order. Standard stock is transparent.
Q: Can you supply profiles cut to 5 m instead of 6 m?
A: Standard stock lengths are 6 m. Cutting service to 5 m or other custom lengths is available — confirm your requirements at the time of order.
Q: Do you hold stock, or is everything made to order?
A: Standard transparent profiles are maintained in warehouse stock and are typically available for prompt dispatch. Custom colors or lengths require a production lead time.
Q: Which sealants are safe to use with these profiles?
A: Use neutral-cure silicone sealants. Acidic silicone causes chemical stress cracking in polycarbonate and should be avoided.
