Anti-Dust Breather Tape for Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheets — Edge Sealing Solution That Keeps Flutes Clean and Ventilated
Anti-staub-breather-tape mehrwandiges polycarbonat-anti-dichtungsband is a micro-porous composite adhesive tape engineered for sealing the open flutes of multi-wall hollow polycarbonate roofing sheets. Each roll measures 28 mm wide × 25 m long and is compatible with 4 mm–16 mm multiwall PC sheets. The tape filters particles larger than 25 µm while allowing condensation to drain freely, protecting panels from dust, insects, algae, and mold. It is manufactured by Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and stocked for worldwide shipment.
What Is This Tape and Why Do Multiwall PC Sheets Need It?
Hollow flutes are in multiwall polycarbonate. Chimney-like flutes pull dust, moisture, and insects off exposed edges with warm air.
It condenses moisture. Algae mould. Dying, yellowing, and diminished light transmission shorten roofing panel life.
This tape covers the sheet's top and bottom but filters contaminants and lets water vapour and condensation escape.
Material Composition
This tape is a three-layer composite structure built for long-term outdoor performance:
| Layer |
Material |
Function |
| Outer Filter Layer |
Non-woven fabric (specially treated) |
Filters dust and particles >25 µm; hydrophobic coating prevents water saturation |
| Reinforcement Layer |
Woven cloth |
Adds dimensional stability and tear resistance |
| Adhesive Layer |
PE + high-tack acrylic adhesive |
Bonds securely to PC sheet edges; outdoor and chemical resistant |
The non-woven filter layer is UV-stabilized and hydrophobically treated, preventing the tape from becoming waterlogged while still letting moisture vapor pass through.

Performance Advantages
The Anti-staub-breather-tape mehrwandiges polycarbonat-anti-dichtungsband provides protection against dust and insects. Its non-woven filter prevents particles bigger than 25 µm from entering and keeps the flutes free from industrial dust, pollen and insects, therefore retaining the light transmittance over the life of the panel.
Condensate drainage. This permeable tape enables the condensate to flow out from the flutes unlike solid aluminium tape. The main source of internal algae development is trapped moisture – Remove that moisture and you halt the cycle before it begins.
Adhesive bonding (waterproof). Acrylic adhesive is UV resistant, waterproof and suitable with polycarbonate substrates. It is designed not to craze or stress fracture on PC surfaces, a recognised problem with incompatible adhesive chemistries.
Flexibility to heat movement. Polycarbonate expands and compresses with temperature; The non-woven carrier is laterally flexed so that the seal remains intact during daily heat cycling without peeling or splitting.
Resistance to mould and algae. By preventing moisture from remaining stagnant in flutes, the tape decreases the conditions for fungal and algae growth, thereby helping to maintain panel clarity over time.
Where This Tape Is Used?
This accessory is a common requirement for certain project types:
- Greenhouse roofing – High humidity areas where unventilated flutes might grow mould without adequate drainage.
- Industrial skylights - Particulate heavy areas such as factories and warehouses where dust build-up affects the transparency of the panels over time.
- Architectural Canopies & Pergolas – Large-span constructions where pristine looks for many years rely on effective edge sealing.
- Residential PC roofing and awnings – Panel protection against insect nesting and algae discolouration in outdoor environments.
The tape is put on the upper and lower borders of the sheet prior to the installation of U-profiles or capping systems. Bottom edge with breather tape for drainage. Combine it with a good aluminium tape at the top edge to prevent moisture getting in from above.
Quality and Compliance
For the Anti-staub-breather-tape mehrwandiges polycarbonat-anti-dichtungsband, in the manufacturing process, Baoding Sinhai Sunboard conducts inspections on arriving materials, production in progress, and final delivery. The key test standards related to this product are:
- Peel Adhesion (ASTM D3330) — Ensures the tape will not delaminate in high-moisture outdoor situations.
- Air Permeability (ISO 9237) — Tests the pore structure to ensure adequate gas exchange for condensation drainage.
- UV Resistance (ISO 4892-3) - Tests UV resistance in outdoor service exposure.
- Anti-Fungal Efficacy (ASTM G21) — Assesses filter medium resistance to mould and algae colonisation.
The firm is ISO 9001:2015, CE and RoHS compliant, which are supportive for international procurement standards.

FAQ
Q1: How can I remove the green algae that grows inside the ends of the sheet?
A: If there is no drainage mechanism for moisture to escape, algae will grow in the flutes. Use the breather tape at the bottom edge with a U-profile. This enables for drainage of condensate, while keeping bug and mould spores out.
Q2: Why breather tape instead of plain aluminium or duct tape?
A: Standard tapes are non-breathable and trap moisture within the flutes which increases algae development and causes ice damage in winter; The adhesive is waterproof from the exterior and vapor-permeable from the inside, keeping flutes dry and increasing the panel’s service life.
Q3: Is the tape on the top or bottom of the sheet?
A: Tape the breather on the bottom edge for condensation drainage. Use strong aluminium tape to seal the top edge to stop water coming in from the top. Using both provides you a comprehensive edge sealing system.
Q4: Have you have OEM-labeling?
A: Yes. We can provide carton packing with your own label. Let us know your needs.
Q5: Does the glue harm the polycarbonate surface?
A: The acrylic glue has been created to be compatible with polycarbonate and to prevent crazing or stress cracking. When you are working close to the tape, clean only with safe polycarbonate detergents.
