Product Description

Twin Wall Polycarbonate Sheets for Roofing & Glazing

Twin wall polycarbonate sheets are thermoplastic panels made of two parallel polycarbonate layers joined by vertical ribs inside. This structure makes enclosed air channels that keep heat in (U-values between 2.4 and 3.9 W/m²K depending on thickness) while letting as much light through as 82% of the time. These panels are 250 times stronger than glass when it comes to impact, which makes them a good choice for commercial greenhouses, industrial skylights, and home carports.

What Are Twin Wall Polycarbonate Sheets?

Each panel is made up of two flat outer skins that are joined together by vertical ribs inside. These ribs make hollow air ducts that run the whole length of the sheet. As a thermal buffer, these channels slow the transfer of heat between surfaces inside and outside. This is a real benefit when it comes to saving money on heating or cooling costs.

The material doesn't change shape when the temperature goes from -40 °C to +120 °C, so it can be used in both cold and hot places.

Material Quality and UV Protection

Each panel is made with 100% brand-new polycarbonate plastic. For projects that need a premium resin source that can be tracked, SABIC or Covestro (Bayer) material is available.

The UV protection layer of Twin wall polycarbonate sheets is co-extruded right into the surface during production. It is not added as a separate layer that could peel or come off over time. It's 50 to 109 microns thick, so it blocks 99% of UV rays that are bad for you. This keeps the resin inside from turning yellow and breaking. This is backed by a 10-year guarantee from Sinhai against yellowing and light loss.

As part of quality control, resin purity is checked, grammage stability is checked, UV coating uniformity is measured with ultrasonic thickness gauges, accelerated weathering tests using Xenon-arc lamps to track the Yellowness Index are done, and ISO 6603 impact tests are done.

Common Applications

Commercial Agriculture

The filtered light that passes through greenhouse windows keeps crops from getting too hot, and the empty structure saves money on heating costs in the winter.

Buildings for businesses

The lightweight panel style is used in factory windows and smoke vent systems to keep natural light coming in while lowering the load on steel buildings' roofs.

Home Improvement Projects

A lot of people install patios, carports, pergolas, pool covers, and canopies. A fine-toothed circle saw is used to cut the sheets, and standard shapes and tools are used to put them together.

Using Other Tools

Panels like these are often used for sound barriers, corridor roofs, curtain walls, advertising light boxes, interior walls, and agricultural sheds.

Customization and Supply Options

Sinhai can do CNC cutting, bending, film finishing, and special-shaped cutting, as well as OEM and ODM orders. The team can make a custom specification if your project needs a panel width, colour, or thickness that isn't in the standard range.

Sinhai can handle both large orders and mixed container purchases thanks to its three production bases and more than 25 production lines that cover more than 50,000 m². Central Asian markets can get their goods in about seven days thanks to the Kashgar production base. Local warehouses in Tashkent and Dushanbe can cut lead times even more.

Logistics options for Twin wall polycarbonate sheets include shipping by sea, truck, or air, all of which are supported by teams that know how to clear customs and handle paperwork that crosses borders.

Installation Guidelines

  • The UV side is facing out. It is important that the side with the protected film always faces the sun. Reversing this speeds up UV damage on the surface that isn't protected.
  • Seal the passages the right way. Use anti-dust tape with holes at the open end at the bottom and solid tape on top. This lets the water out while keeping bugs and dust out of the open spaces.
  • Drill holes that are too big. When the temperature changes, polycarbonate gets bigger and smaller. Larger bolt holes allow for changes in temperature and help keep things from cracking or bending.
  • Stay away from direct foot traffic. Spread the weight out by using crawling boards that span at least three purlins. No matter what the impact grade is, panels can be cracked by concentrated point loads.
  • Choice of thickness. In warm weather, 4 mm is good for small do-it-yourself jobs and gardens. For roofs that get wind or snow, 6 mm or 8 mm is better for structural performance.

FAQ

Q: Will the sheet turn yellow or break easily after being in the sun for a long time?

A: 99% of UV rays are blocked by the co-extruded UV layer, which protects the plastic from the inside out. Sinhai guarantees that their products will not yellow or lose light transmission for 10 years.

Q: Which side will be facing the sun while it's being set up?

A: It is important that the side with the protective film written on it faces the sun so that it stays safe from UV rays. Installing it backward will make it last a lot less time.

Q: What can I do to keep dust and water out of the hollow chambers?

A: Place anti-dust tape with a hole at the bottom end and solid tape on top. Then, use U-profiles to seal the ends. This setup keeps dust and bugs out while letting moisture escape.

Q: Is 4 mm thick enough for a roof?

A: For gardens and small do-it-yourself projects, 4 mm is fine. 6 mm or 8 mm is the right thickness for roofs that will be hit by wind, hail, or snow.

Q: Can the sheets be cut where they are?

A: Most thicknesses can be cut with a circular saw with fine teeth. For thinner panels, a multipurpose knife that is clean will do. A cleaner edge is made when you cut along the rib direction.

Q: How many fires can it hold?

A: The panels can put out fires on their own and are rated Class B-s1, d0 under EN 13501-1. This means they don't help the fire spread and don't make flaming droplets.
