Product Description

Clear Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheet for Roofing, Glazing & Greenhouse — UV-Protected, High-Transmission Panels

Clear multiwall polycarbonate sheet panels from Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. are extruded with sealed internal air channels formed by vertical ribs and offer up to 82% light transmission in addition to thermal insulation and impact resistance. These panels are suitable for roofing, glazing and greenhouse applications. Factory of 50,000+ m² with 3 production bases, 25+ production lines and an annual output of 60,000+ tonnes. We have over 30 years of polycarbonate sheet manufacturing expertise. Certifications include ISO 9001:2015, CE, RoHS, UDEM, KOSHER.

What Is a Clear Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheet?

A clear multiwall polycarbonate sheet is a multi-layered thermoplastic panel in which vertical ribs join the outer walls to create enclosed interior air chambers. The extrusion procedure allows for a light weight construction with a good strength to weight ratio.

These panels serve three consistent needs in construction and agriculture: high natural light without the weight of glass, energy-efficient building envelopes with low U-values, and dependable impact resistance in areas exposed to the elements.

Compared to float glass, polycarbonate is up to 250 times stronger. It’s 30 times more shatter-resistant than acrylic, making it a popular glazing option for commercial and agricultural applications alike.

Core Product Advantages

High Light Transmission with Thermal Efficiency

Clear varieties let up to 82% of natural light through, which reduces the need for artificial lighting in greenhouses and commercial buildings. The air chambers between ribs are sealed and provide thermal buffering. As low as 1.0 W/m²K U-values and reduced heating demand is achieved in enclosed constructions.

UV Protection Layer co-extruded

The UV layer is incorporated into the sheet surface at the time of extrusion to a thickness of 50-109 microns – it is not a surface coating that can be removed. The coextrusion process protects the resin from UV deterioration over time. SINHAI offers 10 years guarantee against yellowing and loss of light transmission.

Thickness Range 3 mm to 12 mm

The 3 to 12 mm range may cover a broad spectrum of structural needs. Panels 3 mm or 4 mm are perfect for tiny greenhouses and DIY buildings. The 6 mm or 8mm panels have deflection resistance when the roof is subjected to wind or snow loading. For industrial or architectural applications with more demanding loads, 10 mm and 12 mm alternatives are available.

Options of raw materials

The panels may be made of 100% fresh virgin polycarbonate resin or using imported SABIC or BAYER material. The selection of raw material has an effect on long term optical clarity, weathering performance and structural integrity for the whole service life of the panel.

Applications Across Industries

Commercial Greenhouses and Agricultural Structures

In a controlled temperature growing environment these panels transmit high amounts of PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) while the multi-wall construction preserves heat on chilly nights. This combination helps in crop output and minimises the energy expenses in agricultural operations.

Industrial Roofing and Skylights

Multiwall panels are used for northlight glazing and roof skylights in warehouses and factories. Their capacity to manage wind loads, diffuse natural light and resist impact helps to energy efficiency and better working conditions.

Architectural Walkways, Canopies and Pergolas

Polycarbonate’s ability to cold-curve makes it ideal for curved stadium roofs, private patio covers and covered pathways. It creates a weather-tight barrier, withstanding snow loads and thermal expansion cycles without the brittleness of glass.

Other Uses

Due to its combination of light weight, impact resistance and weatherability, this product is used in the construction of swimming pool coverings, curtain walls, acoustic barriers, advertising light boxes, interior partitions and corridor glazing.

Quality Control Standards

All clear multiwall polycarbonate sheet from SINHAI is examined at raw material receipt, throughout manufacturing and before final delivery.

The key quality checks are:

  • UV Layer Thickness Verification – microscopic cross-section study to validate the level of protective coating
  • Yellowing Index (YI) Evaluation – evaluated to ASTM D1925 to verify long-term optical clarity
  • FM 4473 or UL 2218 certified for severe weather conditions – Hail Impact Test
  • Dimensional stability and rib alignment – panels were verified to match glazing systems without leaking
  • GSM (Weight-per-Square-Meter) Verification – verifies wall thickness satisfies structural load bearing criteria

Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is one of the key drafting units of China’s National Standard for Polycarbonate Sheets (formally issued on September 29, 2024, implemented on April 1, 2025).

Customization and OEM/ODM Services

For customers that want customised panel sizes, colours, UV coating settings or branded packaging, SINHAI provides 100% OEM and ODM.

Available customisation options:

  • CNC cut to project specified dimensions
  • Film coating and colour customisation in 10+ basic colours or bespoke colours
  • Special shape cutting, bending, vacuum-formed and thermoformed
  • Take on smaller-quantity orders and huge project quantities

Regular purchases are normally sent within roughly 7 days. Kashgar manufacturing base allows us to ship to Middle Asian nations in around 7 days for Central Asian clients. Local warehousing resources in Tashkent and Dushanbe will help us to quickly fulfilll regional orders.

Installation Guidance

Proper installation influences panel lifespan directly. The following principles cover most of the roofing and glazing applications.

UV-side orientation is important. The side with the printed protective film – the UV-protected face – must always face outwards toward the sun. Reversing the installation speeds up depreciation of the surface and loses warranty protection.

Seal the panel ends properly. Put solid aluminium tape on the top ends and ventilated anti-dust tape on the bottom ends. This arrangement enables rainwater to drain out, yet keeps dust and insects out of the hollow spaces.

Consider thermal expansion. Polycarbonate Thermal Expansion Coefficient 0.065 mm/m°C. Use large fixing holes and provide a minimum of 3 mm per metre space in the frame profiles.

Do not step on the panels directly. When installing use crawling boards over a minimum of three purlins to spread the weight and minimise point-load cracking.

FAQ

Q1: Will the sheet yellow or become brittle after a few years of outdoor use?

A: SINHAI multiwall sheets have a 50 micron and higher co-extruded UV layer which protects the internal resin from deterioration caused by UV rays. 10 year warranty against yellowing and loss of light transmission.

Q2: When installing, which side should face the sun?

A: The printed side of the protective film – showing UV protection – should be toward the sun. Flipping the panel around will drastically limit the useful life of the panel and also invalidate the warranty.

Q3: How can I prevent water and dust from entering hollow chambers?

A: Seal with U-profiles and use vented anti-dust tape at the lower ends and solid tape at the top. This enables moisture to escape but prevents dust and insects getting into the channels.

Q4: Is 4 mm twin wall sheet robust enough for roofing?

A: A 4 mm panel is good for small greenhouses or DIY jobs where the load exposure is not very high. For roofs exposed to wind or snow, 6 mm or 8 mm is advised to avoid deflection or frame separation.

Q5: Can you walk on the sheets when installing?

A: Do not step on the polycarbonate panels. Crawling boards should be used, spanning at least three purlins, to distribute the load and to minimise cracking.

Q6: What to do about condensation within the channels?

A: The inner surface of anti-drip or anti-fog coated sheets favours the passage of condensation in a thin film rather than in droplets and this is advantageous especially in greenhouse applications.
