Frosted PC Sheet for Glazing, Partitions & Daylighting
Baoding Sinhai manufactures frosted PC sheet as a solid polycarbonate panel with a matte texture formed directly during extrusion — not applied after the fact. Made from 100% virgin Bayer/Sabic PC resin with a co-extruded 50μm UV layer, it blocks 98–100% of UV radiation below 380nm and reaches an impact strength of 850 J/m. Thicknesses run from 0.8mm to 18mm, widths up to 2.1m, and four standard finishes are available: clear frosted, opal, bronze frosted, and grey frosted.
What Is a Frosted PC Sheet?
A solid polycarbonate panel with a matte, granular finish is known as a frosted PC sheet. This finish is achieved by passing the panel through textured extrusion rollers. In contrast to a plain old transparent sheet, this one has a matte surface that disperses light evenly, so there are no more blind patches, less glare, and gentle, consistent lighting all across the panel.
Because the frosted texture hides fingerprints, small scratches, and surface wear, it is a good alternative to polished surfaces in industrial or high-traffic areas.

Core Performance Characteristics
Transmission of light via an optical medium. For applications where obvious LED spotting is an issue, such as light boxes, daylighting strips, and LED flat panel diffusers, the matte surface's ability to disperse light over the panel face is ideal.
Resistance to impacts. Machine guards, safety dividers, and commercial glazing are all areas where the sheet's ability to take concentrated stress without fracturing—at 850 J/m—is essential.
locally cold-bendable. Panels may be bent without the need for heating equipment, making them ideal for curved roofing or canopy applications, since the minimum cold-bending radius is at least 175 times the thickness of the sheet.
Maintaining stability at different temperatures. Use in cold-climate roofs and enclosed industrial areas is possible due to its stable performance from -40°C to +120°C, which prevents warping and dimensional change.
Typical Applications
LED Lighting and Optoelectronics
In flat panel lights and street lamps, the matte texture lessens the visibility of LED spots and creates a more consistent illumination throughout the surface of the panel. For this purpose, opal and clear frosted grades are often requested.
Interior Design for Buildings
Transmitting diffused natural light while providing visual seclusion, frosted PC sheet is ideal for use as office partitions, restroom enclosures and hallway panels. When hit, it would shatter glass that is the same thickness.
Tools for the Workplace
The non-reflective surface decreases glare for workers and hides internal wear from persistent vibration, making it ideal for machine guards, control panel covers, and heavy equipment enclosures.
Canopies, skylights, and roofing
Glass and roof loads may be accommodated by thicknesses ranging from 1.5 mm to 6.0 mm. Surfaces are protected from surface yellowing caused by extended exposure to outside UV light by the co-extruded UV layer.
Displays and Commercials
Light boxes and architectural signs may benefit from translucent opal and clear frosted grades because they provide uniform, evenly backlit images without hot spots near the light source.
Quality Control Process
Prior to distribution, each manufacturing batch undergoes a comprehensive inspection process:
- A digital micrometre is used to confirm the thickness tolerance, which is accurate to within ±0.05mm.
- In order to ensure surface consistency, sparkle flaws and flow lines are visually examined.
- To verify uniform light scattering, haze meters are tested in accordance with ASTM D1003.
- Accelerated weathering tests (ASTM G154) are used to monitor the yellowing index (YI) in order to verify the UV co-extrusion layer.
- The fracture toughness under focused stress is confirmed by the falling ball impact test.
Certified by UDEM, SGS, CE, RoHS, and ISO 9001:2015, Baoding Sinhai is a reliable business partner. On April 1, 2025, the company's National Standard for Polycarbonate Sheets went into force in China. It was one of the major drafting units of the standard.

FAQ
Q1: What thickness and breadth do you provide?
A: Standard thicknesses are 1.5 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 12mm. The whole range is from 0.8mm to 18mm. Maximum width is 2.1m, length is trimmed to order with no defined restriction.
Q2: What are the available colour possibilities for customisation?
A: Standard colours include clear frosted, opal, bronze frosted and grey frosted. Custom colours such as lake blue and grass green are also available which usually take 15-20 working days.
Q3: How is a product different from a sandblasted sheet?
A: The matte surface of a product is generated in the extrusion process, which results in an improved surface finish over sandblasting in post-production. The texture is not part of the material, therefore it might wear unevenly over time on the sandblasted surface.
Q4: Does the frosted finish affect the UV protection?
A: Nope. The UV protection layer is co-extruded on the sheet separately from the matte texture. The 50µm UV barrier is excellent for any finish and prevents yellowing when exposed to outside UV.
Q5: Is the sheet thermo-formable?
A: Yes, but with tight temperature control. Too much heat may make the matte texture transparent or flatten it out therefore it is important to work the material within the approved forming temperature range to keep the surface quality.
Q6: How to clean mat surface?
A: Use a gentle microfibre cloth and mild soap and lukewarm water. Do not use abrasive cleansers or alkaline detergents that may embed themselves in the surface grain and ruin the appearance over a period of time.
