Polycarbonate Dome House Panel — Full-Sheet Glazing for Dome Structures
For almost 30 years, Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has produced polycarbonate sheets at 3 production bases and 25 manufacturing lines, generating over 60,000 tonnes annually. Using 100% virgin Bayer or Sabic resin and a 50μm co-extruded UV layer, our polycarbonate dome house panels are cut to your specific dome geometry from entire sheets. They are a viable alternative to glass for dome roofs, glamping resorts, observatories, and garden pavilions because to their 60%–82% light transmission and 850 J/m impact strength.
What Is a Polycarbonate Dome House Panel?
A polycarbonate dome house panel is a thermoplastic PC sheet cut into spherical or geodesic enclosures. Dome applications need material that can bend at significant curvature without stress cracking, preserve optical clarity for panoramic views, and withstand UV deterioration over years of outdoor exposure.
Our dome-tuned PC compound thermoforms without micro-fractures, making our sheets suitable for vacuum forming, CNC machining, and custom curved cutting, which we undertake in-house. Panels are lighter and less fragile than glass. They outlast PVC fabric and have greater optical quality.

Technical Properties
Materials. Bayer or Sabic resin is used in every panel without recycling. Internal cavities and variable density in recycled PC impair dome structural stability. For each manufacturing cycle, spectrophotometry verifies UV layer thickness to meet the 50 μm goal.
Conditions affect performance. Dome shape spreads wind and snow loads. Panels withstand hail and severe winds without shattering at 850 J/m impact strength. Frosty glamping locations to high-solar-load subtropical installations are covered by the -40°C to +120°C service range.
Image quality. With 60%–82% light transmission, the dome provides natural sunshine without glare. Summer overheating may be reduced with tinted and heat-shielding options. Multiwalls provide passive insulation without layers.
Curve thermalisability. When bent to dome shape radii, flat PC sheets may micro-fracture. Designed for spherical and geodesic frames, these panels' dome-tuned compound thermoforms neatly.
Applications
Many dome structures employ these panels:
- Ecology and glamping resorts defy sea salt spray, desert sand, and mountain wind and give a 360-degree vista that canvas or fabric constructions cannot.
- Dome skylights and observatory roofs; great optical clarity, low refractive distortion, for natural illumination and stargazing.
- Climate-controlled bubble eating pods and pop-up stores on concrete pads, hardwood decks, or steel platforms
- Residential solariums and garden pavilions—multiwall construction supports plant or year-round outdoor living environment.
- Canopy and pergola domes for steel, aluminium, and wood frames
Sheet Supply and Frame Compatibility
For the polycarbonate dome house, the absence of mid-span overlap joints in full-sheet supply minimises leak risk compared to multi-piece glazing. The sheets fit steel, aluminium, and wood frames. Our QC procedure checks connection point watertightness using EPDM gaskets and structural adhesives under simulated precipitation.
With every order, we provide dome-specific cutting lists, screw arrangement drawings, expansion-gap designs, and waterproofing data. On-site installation is available for big orders.
Quality Control
Importing raw material, in-line manufacturing, and pre-shipment are inspected.
- Resin verification verifies virgin material; no recycled content acceptable. UV layer measurement confirms 50 μm coating each run using spectrophotometry.
- Structure load estimates for area wind and snow needs; clients must check compliance with local construction regulations.
- Rain-simulated EPDM gaskets and adhesives evaluated for sealing.
- Sheets examined for refractive irregularities before shipping.
ISO 9001:2015, CE, RoHS, and SGS-certified products.
Customization and Orders
Cutting sheets to project dimensions. Depending on structural load and span, thickness is 4–25 mm. The colour, surface gloss, and light transmission level may be adjusted from transparent (up to 90%) to opaque for privacy zones.
We provide CNC cutting, bending, special-shape cutting, vacuum forming, and thermoforming. We accept OEM/ODM orders. Custom requirements and big quantities have longer wait times, however most orders are processed in one week.
With a 7-day transportation time, Kashgar can supply Central Asian customers. In Tashkent and Dushanbe, we have warehouses.
FAQ
Q: What sheet dimensions and frame types are compatible?
A: Thickness ranges from 4–25 mm, with a maximum sheet width of 2.5 m and length cut to project size. The panels fit steel, aluminium, and wood structural frames. Cutting lists and node drawings are included with every order.
Q: Is installation technical support available?
A: Yes. Node design drawings, waterproofing details, screw layout plans, and expansion-gap specifications are supplied at no additional charge. Remote guidance via video is available, and on-site support can be arranged for large-volume orders.
Q: Will the panels discolor or become brittle over time?
A: The co-extruded 50 μm UV layer blocks 98%–100% of UV radiation below 380 nm, which is the primary cause of yellowing and embrittlement in unprotected PC. Warranty coverage is 10–20 years depending on the specification selected.
Q: Can a product stay comfortable in summer?
A: Tinted and heat-shielding sheet options reduce solar heat gain. The panels are also compatible with standard HVAC systems and passive ventilation designs. The appropriate sheet specification for your climate and dome size can be discussed during the inquiry stage.
Q: What foundation does a dome installation require?
A: The relatively low weight of PC dome panels allows installation on wooden decks, concrete pads, or steel platforms. Most configurations require only a level surface with standard anchoring — specifics depend on dome diameter, local wind load requirements, and the structural frame design.
