Embossed Polycarbonate Sheet — Diffused Light, Strong Privacy, 10-Year Warranty
Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a embossed polycarbonate sheet manufacturer with more than 30 years of experience, produces polycarbonate sheet embossed, a glazing material. The surface is rough because it is produced during casting and not as a subsequent layer. This implies the design will always be there. Sheets are available in thicknesses of 1.5 mm to 6.0 mm and, depending on pattern and colour, let between 40% and 85% of light through. They are a fantastic alternative for roofs, walls and artistic glass where control of light and privacy are crucial.
What Is an Embossed Polycarbonate Sheet?
A continuous extrusion method is used to create an embossed polycarbonate sheet, and patterned rollers are used to imprint a textured pattern on one or both sides.
The texture is formed during the extrusion, not applied on top, hence the pattern on the surface won’t fade, peel or delaminate over time.
This design addresses three functional demands for architectural glazing: minimises specular glare and hot spots, offers visual privacy with natural light, and conceals surface scratches in high traffic areas.
Pattern Options
There are four typical surface designs.
- Diamond — a prismatic surface that refracts light and covers fingerprints and small blemishes, often used in office partitions and shower enclosures
- Lychee - rounder texture, softer visual appearance, good for ornamental purposes
- Frosted: homogeneous matte texture with high privacy and even light dispersion
- Prism – a surface with texture that bends and scatters light at various angles
Each design creates a distinct light transmission/privacy profile. The proper decision relies on the opacity, light diffusion and visual finish you desire.

Performance Characteristics
Impact strength. These sheets have 250 times more impact resistance than glass and 20-30 times more than acrylic. They will not break or shatter from hail, wind load or accidental collision. The embossed surface is a geometric change solely – tensile strength and modulus of elasticity are unchanged from regular polycarbonate resin.
UV stability. The UV protection layer is co-extruded, not post-process coated, so it will not peel or delaminate. The UV layer is also resistant to yellowing and damage of the surface, backed by a 10-year product guarantee.
Diffusion of light. When sunlight strikes the ribbed surface it is broken up into diffuse even light rather than direct beams . This lowers glare in inhabited environments . The light transmission depends on the pattern and the colour chosen and it varies from 40% to 85%.
Range of temperature. The sheets retain their form and optical qualities across the range -40°C to +120°C and are suitable for use in cold storage conditions and high heat roofing applications.
Typical Applications
Embossed polycarbonate sheet is employed in a variety of building types and project sizes.
Industrial skylights and warehouses The diffusing surface eliminates the glare of the direct sun, which may enhance working conditions and minimise the need for artificial light throughout the day.
Diamond Pattern Sheets are a popular choice for interior privacy walls in business and medical settings, known as Office walls and Healthcare Dividers. They transmit light but are cut off from direct lines of sight.
Shower enclosures and bathroom glazing - Frosted or lychee designs create a clean, private finish. Polycarbonate offers a far higher impact resistance than glass in these applications.
Roofing, canopies, pergolas — Sheet may be utilised in structural roofing applications up to 6.0 mm thickness. The texture also helps to disguise weathering that would be obvious on flat glass.
Decorative architectural glazing - Prism and diamond patterns provide a visual design feature to curtain walls, corridor coverings and entry canopies.
Processing and Customization
Cutting, bending, drilling, CNC machining, and colour printing are available fabrication services. Cold bending is allowed at a minimum radius of 175 times the sheet thickness, which is good for curved roofing or canopy constructions. Confirm the alignment of the texture before bending to minimise internal stress concentration.
We welcome OEM & ODM orders. Available in custom colours, film coatings, special-shape cutting and thermoforming. Standard orders usually arrive within 7 days.

FAQ
Q1: What’s the point of the embossed texture?
A: It has three practical applications . It distorts the vision through the sheet , providing seclusion . It scatters sunlight into a mellow , even glow . And it lends a beautiful touch to the surface .
Q2: Is the roughness a loss of structural strength from a flat sheet?
A: No. Embossing is a surface treatment only. Impact resistance, tensile strength and modulus of elasticity comparable to conventional flat polycarbonate. The texturing procedure does not erase anything.
Q3. Which side should be outdoors?
A: The flat UV shielded side is meant to face the sun. The textured side is the inside. This exposes the UV layer directly in the direction of ultraviolet light and makes the inside surface simpler to clean .
Q4: Can it be used for anti-slip floor?
A: Our product is intended mainly for vertical windows and overhead roofing, however the rough surface does give grip. The sheet material is often used as a decorative or light transmitting layer atop a structural support frame for flooring applications, rather than as a load bearing floor surface.
Q5 : Is there any acoustic advantage over flat glazing?
A: The textured surface does break up sound reflections somewhat. It is not an acoustic panel per se, but it may do a somewhat better job of managing sound than a completely flat sheet in glass enclosures.
Q6: Is the UV protection on either side?
A: In normal manufacturing the UV co-extrusion layer is applied on the sun facing side. Dual-sided UV protection is provided for applications where both sides will be exposed to direct UV.
