Embossed Solid Polycarbonate Sheet for Roofing, Glazing & Decoration
Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. makes embossed solid polycarbonate sheet using 100% fresh resin or foreign SABIC/BAYER material. They do this on more than 25 production lines spread across 3 production bases, making more than 60,000 tonnes of product every year. The panels come in thicknesses ranging from 1.5 mm to 6.0 mm and have either a diamond or lychee pattern on the surface. Each panel has the impact resistance of solid PC, which is 250–300 times that of glass. They also have built-in light diffusion and visual privacy for use in fencing, roofing, decorative glazing, and industrial skylights.
What Is an Embossed Solid Polycarbonate Sheet?
An embossed solid polycarbonate sheet is a textured engineered thermoplastic panel, created by a co-extrusion technique. The resin is in a semi-molten condition, and a diamond or lychee design is pressed straight into the surface.
The structural integrity of the panel is not compromised by this technique. The textured profile might enhance the rigidity somewhat compared to a flat sheet of the same thickness.
The outcome is a panel that serves three practical demands at the same time: to scatter direct sunlight to minimise glare, to block the view through the panel for visual privacy, and to camouflage fingerprints and tiny surface scratches. A suitable material when a project demands the robustness of polycarbonate and a beautiful, concealing finish.

Key Features
Privacy and Light Diffusion
The roughness of the surface plays with the view through the panel, giving visual seclusion without a complete wall. It also spreads the sunshine more evenly, cutting down glare and hot areas inside. Depending on texture depth, light transmission is 35% to 80%.
Thickness range for most project types
Available in thicknesses from 1.5 mm for lightweight ornamental walls to 6.0 mm for industrial roofing and canopies, the product line encompasses garden gates, metal-frame structures, commercial facades and heavy-duty skylights.
UV Protection Co-Extruded
The UV stabilised layer is 50 to 106 microns thick and is co-extruded directly on the sheet surface to avoid yellowing and surface deterioration during long-term outdoor exposure. The textured side is usually facing inward, which also helps to make dust buildup less noticeable. The flat UV-protected side should face the sun.
Colour Choices
Regular colours include translucent, lake blue, bronze, grey, green, orange, and amber. Other colours are available, including opal, dark blue, silver and yellow. We may customise colours for OEM / ODM orders to meet your individual architectural needs.
Acoustic Diffusion
The rough surface is designed to diffuse sound reflections, rather than immediately bouncing them back. This provides a slight acoustic advantage of the embossed sheet over a flat sheet in applications such as noise barriers, covered pathways and internal walls.
Applications
Industrial Skylights and Warehouse Roofing
Its textured surface diffuses light, eliminating harsh blazing hot spots over broad floor surfaces, which is especially beneficial for industrial roofs and warehouse skylights where constant internal illumination is essential.
Gates, Fences and Metal Frame Structures
The sheet can withstand 250-300 times the impact force of glass and is ideal for outdoor exposure, hail and wind loads. The diamond or lychee design has a beautiful finish to the metal functional frames and surrounding fence.
Indoor and outdoor dividers and enclosures
The sheet is used for office partitions, shower enclosures, covered hallways, pergolas and awnings, keeping spaces open and naturally illuminated while preserving a degree of visual distinction between regions.
Infrastructure in Cities
The panel is suitable for pedestrian bridge coverings and noise barriers, able to resist high-impact debris and reduce direct light reflection, important in public installations where durability and glare control are needed.
Quality Control
Sinhai subjects every batch of embossed solid polycarbonate sheet to four levels of inspection:
- Dimensional correctness is confirmed using ultrasonic gauges, with thickness tolerance of ±0.05 mm on textured peaks and valleys.
- The impact integrity is tested by Falling Dart Impact Tests to ISO 6603 to ensure that no cracking occurs below the specified force levels.
- UV Layer verification reveals the presence of co-extruded UV layer in the region 50-106 microns.
- Optical consistency is assessed as haze and Yellowness Index as per ASTM E313 after 2,000 hours of accelerated weathering in a Xenon arc chamber.
Sinhai's quality management system is ISO 9001:2015 accredited and covers all aspects from raw material receipt, in-process manufacturing, through to final delivery.
Customization and OEM/ODM
The following customisation options are available for bulk and project-based buyers:
- OEM and ODM manufacture as per brand need
- CNC cutting, special-shaped cutting
- Custom colour or UV film coating
- Bending, vacuum and thermoforming for solid PC sheets
- Mixed container purchase cut-to-order possibilities
We have 70+ mould possibilities and 25+ manufacturing lines in 3 production bases, which can undertake huge engineering orders and mixed-SKU procurement.
Logistics and Delivery
Standard orders ship in around 7 days after manufacturing confirmation. The Kashgar manufacturing base offers a direct logistical channel for customers in Central Asia, with delivery to regional nations in roughly 7 days.
Sinchai also has local warehousing resources in Tashkent and Dushanbe for customers with a quicker turnaround time. We transport via sea, truck and air, and have in-house logistics teams who take care of customs clearance and cross-border paperwork.
FAQ
Q1: What is the effect of the emboss texture?
A: The texture has three roles. It obscures the view for privacy, scatters light for uniform distribution and provides a beautiful finish to the surface of the panel. It is useful on vertical glazing and roofing applications.
Q2: How does embossing affect impact strength as compared to a flat sheet?
A: No. It has the same resistance to impact as a flat solid sheet of the same thickness. The texture is generated in the extrusion process and does not compromise the structural integrity; the textured profile might provide a little stiffness in certain combinations.
Q3 What direction should the sun be facing?
A: The UV shielded side should face outward toward the sun. The textured side faces inward as well which helps to hide any little buildup of dust on the exterior.
Q4: Is the sheet cold formed for arched roofs?
A: Yes, it may be cold bent. For solid PC sheets, the minimum cold-bend radius is often about 175 times the thickness of the sheet. For arching applications, the texture is often preferred on the outer face to accommodate the bending stress distribution.
Q5: What is the difference in light transmission between the diamond and lychee patterns?
A: Diamond design has better light dispersion and improved visual privacy. The lychee pattern provides a more delicate, more nuanced matte surface with a little increase in light transmission – more appropriate for areas where more natural light is a goal.
Q6. How do you clean the textured finish?
A: Simply rinse it with low-pressure water and neutral soap. The texture hides water marks and light dust better than clear flat sheets thus normal cleaning intervals are often less frequent.
