Product Description

Frosted Plastic Sheet (PC) — Matte Polycarbonate for Glare-Free, Privacy-Ready Applications

When frosted plastic sheet has to work in architectural glazing, LED diffuser panels or office partitions, marketing promises are less important than material integrity. Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Solid polycarbonate sheets matte finish from 100% virgin Bayer/Sabic PC resin, thicknesses 0.8 mm up to 18 mm and widths up to 2,100 mm – UV co-extrusion and double sided matte are typical choices.

What Is a Frosted Plastic Sheet?

A frosted plastic sheet is a thermoplastic panel with a matte, non-reflective surface finish. The texture is produced through mechanical sandblasting, chemical etching, or extrusion with textured rollers during manufacturing.

Unlike a clear polycarbonate panel, the frosted surface scatters incoming light in multiple directions, creating a soft and even glow without bright spots or direct glare.

This makes the material useful for three distinct needs: managing glare, providing partial privacy without blocking daylight, and concealing fingerprints and minor surface scratches under normal use conditions.

Surface & Optical Performance

The matte texture gives constant haze levels of 70% to 98% and are validated with spectrophotometers under ASTM D1003. Light transmittance varies from 0% to 90% based on thickness and choice of colour.

The double-sided matte surface offers optimal dispersion and is the best choice for LED light panels and architectural luminaires where hot spots should be avoided. Single-sided matte is recommended when one side needs lamination, screen printing or bonding with an adhesive.

UV co-extrusion layer – 50 µm thick – cuts off the UV radiation below 380 nm at 98%-100% of anti-UV rate. It reduces yellowing and surface damage when left outside for long periods of time.

Temperature Resistance & Fire Safety

The frosted plastic sheet is dimensionally stable at temperatures between -40°C and +120°C, making it appropriate for use in cold-storage facilities, roofing in high-temperature climates and enclosed industrial situations.

It is B1 grade fire according to GB 8624 and UL94 V-2. The material is self-extinguishing (does not continue to burn after the flame source is withdrawn) which meets standard fire code criteria for interior walls, public hallways and commercial areas.

Processing & Fabrication

Standard equipment can handle frosted polycarbonate sheet in-house or in the factory:

  • CNC cut, laser cut – tidy edges; lower laser power a little at the edges to avoid surface melting on frosted finishes
  • Drilling and engraving – works with regular wood or metal working tools
  • Cold bending Minimum bending radius 175 × sheet thickness
  • Thermoforming and vacuum forming – the frosted texture withstands heat processing
  • Printing Screen & Digital Printing for Signage & Display Applications

OEM/ODM orders are also available. In-house CNC cutting, film coating customisation, special-shaped cutting and bending service.

Application Areas

This material is used in a wide variety of industries and project kinds.

Lighting and LED panels – diffuser panels for architectural luminaires and LED backlit signs that provide consistent light without obvious hot spots.

Office and commercial interiors include office dividers, bathroom dividers and corridor glazing when seclusion is desired together with transmission of natural light.

Industrial and technical applications – overlays for membrane switches, control panels and machine guards in medical equipment and industrial machinery where non-glare surfaces minimise operator eye strain.

Advertising and retail displays – light boxes, point-of-purchase displays, backlit signs requiring even, diffused illumination.

Construction and architecture - skylights, canopies, pergola covers and daylighting strips. Standard glass thicknesses from 1.5 mm to 6 mm and up to 18 mm for structural purposes.

Quality Control

Each batch of manufacturing is inspected at many stages before being sent.

  • Surface homogeneity — eye examination and gloss-meter scan of the whole panel for shining areas or flow lines.
  • Transmittance and haze consistency – ASTM D1003 vs spectrophotometer testing
  • Dimensional tolerance - Calliper measurement; thickness consistency within ±5%
  • Chemical resistance – frosted surface tested against common cleaning chemicals to ensure that the matte texture does not become clear or deteriorate
  • Thermal stability – texture remains following thermoforming and heat bending cycles

Inspection of raw materials, in-process panels and final sheets prior to delivery.

Customization & Order Options

You are able to set up your orders using the following parameters:

  • Thickness: 0.8mm to 18mm and non-standard sizes
  • Width: 1,220 / 1,560 / 1,830 / 2,100 mm or bespoke
  • Length: trimmed to your specific needs
  • Colour: clear, lake blue, grass green, opal, bronze, grey and others
  • Surface: matte, one or two sides
  • UV layer: variable thickness of coextrusion

Standard manufacturing lead time is 7-15 days. Custom colours are 15-20 days. Rush orders are negotiable.

Free samples. Sample lead time: 7-15 days.

Packaging & Logistics

The sheets are covered with PE film on both sides and put on wooden pallets or in wooden boxes for sea, road or air freight.

Baoding Sinhai uses local storage resources in Tashkent and Dushanbe. The delivery from the Kashgar manufacturing base to the Central Asian markets takes around 7 days.

FAQ

Q1: Can I have the frosted texture on either side or both?

A: Both setups are on the table. For LED panels, the most popular material is double-sided matte, which allows for the most light dispersion. Matte paper with only one side is better for uses like printing, adhesive bonding, or laminating.

Q2: What alternatives are there for breadth and thickness?

A: In terms of thickness, the most common values are 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 mm, with a whole range of 0.8 to 18 mm. Tailored lengths and maximum widths are available upon request.

Q3: Does the frosted surface have any effect on the mechanical strength?

A: No. Only the surface is altered by the icing. Tensile characteristics and impact strength of 850 J/m are preserved in the base polycarbonate.

Q4: Is laser cutting an option for this product?

A: Sure, laser cutting leaves crisp margins; nevertheless, to keep the frosted surface from being melted, you need lower the power settings somewhat near the edges.

Q5: When cleaning frosted polycarbonate, what is the best way to avoid streaks and stains?

A: Mix some gentle soapy water with a microfibre towel for a gentle cleaning. The optical performance may be affected if you use solvent-based cleaners or abrasive scrubbers, which can cover the tiny surface roughness.

Q6: Do you allow for the customisation of size and colour?

A: Yes. The surface quality, colour, breadth, length, and thickness of the UV layer are all customisable. Please allow 7–15 days for standard shipping, and 15-20 days for bespoke colours.
