CNC Cut Polycarbonate Sheet — Precision Custom Fabrication for Industrial and Architectural Applications
Over 30 years, Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has specialised in polycarbonate. We generate every cnc cut polycarbonate sheet straight from your CAD or DXF files on three production bases with over 25 lines and 60,000 tonnes of yearly output. CNC routing, laser cutting, drilling, hole punching, and chamfering are supported with ±0.1mm accuracy for sheet thickness ranging from 0.95mm to 25mm.
What Is a CNC Cut Polycarbonate Sheet?
CNC cutting uses Computer Numerical Control equipment to machine polycarbonate panels according to digital CAD/CAM files. High-speed spindles and dedicated router bits follow your drawing geometry to produce complex outlines, internal cutouts, and finished edges that manual cutting cannot reliably replicate.
For production buyers, this matters in three specific ways: it eliminates edge melting caused by friction heat when the correct tooling and feed rates are used; it removes dimensional errors from manual layout; and it allows intricate geometries — chamfers, vent arrays, irregular profiles — to be repeated accurately across a full production run. Parts arrive ready to install with no secondary processing required on site.

Material Properties
The basic polycarbonate resin has an impact strength of 850 J/m and is thus ideal for safety-critical guards, obstacles and enclosures where glass or acrylic would fail. Clear grades transmit 88%-90% of light; tinted and specialty-surface finishes bring that number down to near-zero for totally impenetrable applications.
The -40°C to +120°C service temperature range means the same material works consistently in cold-storage conditions and in rooftop glazing under intense sun. The thermal expansion coefficient is comparably low, which means less change in size over time in constructed structures.
The 50μm UV co-extrusion layer is manufactured into the sheet and is not a surface coating, therefore it cannot peel off or delaminate from the substrate.
CNC Machining Capabilities
Processing skills are more than just straight-line cutting. Operations at your disposal:
- CNC routing and cutting – complicated contours, internal pockets and contoured edges
- Laser cutting for thinner sheets needing delicate detail work
- Drilling / Hole Punching - Fastener, Vent Array, Mounting Hole Patterns
- Chamfering and Edge Finishing – Burr-free edges without chatter marks
- Irregular and shaped cutting Any geometry accepted from CAD, DXF or real sample
- Vacuum forming and thermoforming – for solid sheets of PC
Bring us an actual sample (not a sketch) and we’ll reverse engineer it for manufacturing. Protective masking film is applied to all surfaces during milling to avoid scratches.
Quality Control
Each batch of cnc cut polycarbonate sheet is subjected to a controlled inspection process prior to dispatch.
Dimensional verification is based on coordinate measurement to verify that your drawing is followed with a tolerance of ±0.1mm. Edge finish examination looks for burrs, melting marks or chatter which might be a stress concentration in service. Isopropanol stress testing reveals internal stress generated by inappropriate feed rates or damaged tooling that directly impacts the long-term performance of parts. Visual examination surface scratches protective film integrity For coated grades, coating adhesion testing ensures that there has been no delamination produced by CNC routing at cut edges.
This quality procedure echoes the requirements underpinning Sinhai’s involvement as one of the key drafting units of the Chinese National Standard for Polycarbonate Sheets, formally adopted April 1, 2025.
Typical Applications
A precision cnc cut polycarbonate sheet is used across multiple industries:
- Industrial machine guards — custom viewing ports and safety enclosures requiring optical clarity and impact resistance
- Equipment windows and protective housings — parts machined to exact assembly dimensions
- Safety barriers and riot shields — complex profiles and mounting holes without panel weakening
- Architectural glazing and skylights — irregular daylighting panels cut to site-specific drawings
- Signage lettering and custom displays — precise profiled shapes for retail and exhibition use
- Canopies, pergolas, and roofing panels — thickness range of 1.5–20mm covers standard glazing and structural applications

FAQ
Q1: What cutting and machining operations are supported, and what tolerances can you hold?
A: CNC routing, laser cutting, drilling, hole punching, chamfering, and irregular profile cutting are all available. Standard tolerance is ±0.1mm across a thickness range of 0.95–25mm and a maximum part width of 2.1m at any length. CAD, DXF, 3D files, and physical samples are all accepted as starting points.
Q2: What are the minimum order quantities?
A: The MOQ is 100 pcs for custom cut parts and 500 m² for sheet orders. A 3–5 pcs sampling service with a 5–7 day lead time is available before committing to full production. Contact our sales team to discuss specific project quantities.
Q3: When CNC processing, how do you avoid edge melting?
A: We employ single-flute O-flute router bits, adjust spindle speed and feed rate to polycarbonate chip load, and extract heat from the cut zone using air-coolant systems. Clean, thermally stable edges.
4: QCNC cutting polycarbonate is better than laser cutting when?
A: CNC is probably best for sheets above 3mm thick. At that thickness, laser cutting polycarbonate produces carbonised, yellowed edges with high internal tension. CNC cuts neat, stress-free edges for structural and optical purposes.
Q5: Can CNC manufacture anti-scratch sheets?
A: Yes. Machined using special tooling and masking, coating chipping at entrance and exit points is prevented. Standard examination verifies coating adherence after cutting.
