Heat Insulated Hollow Corrugated PC Panels for Shed Roof
Heat insulated hollow corrugated PC panels for shed roof integrate a corrugated wave profile with a sealed multi-wall hollow structure, combining structural stiffness and a thermal air barrier in one sheet. They are made from 100% virgin polycarbonate resin – SABIC or Bayer material optional – and are suitable for agricultural structures, industrial sheds and covered public infrastructure where heat gain, natural light and dead load are all concerns.
How the Hollow Structure Changes Thermal Performance?
Standard single-skin corrugated PC sheet is robust against impact but has minimal barrier to heat transmission. All this is changed by the hollow corrugated design which encloses an air-cushioned layer between two skins and works as a continuous heat buffer across the whole roof area.
The internal air barrier decreases the U-value to around 2.3-3.5 W/m2K depending on the arrangement, much less than solid corrugated sheet. This means in reality that the inside stays cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, and you don’t need to use as much secondary insulating material or add more structural weight.
Another advantage comes in condensation control. Less heat loss via the roof means a warmer interior surface, lowering the temperature difference that causes moisture to condense and drop off of machinery, animals or stored products. This is critical in livestock barns and cold storage sheds where drips are causing continuous harm to both goods and structure.

Typical Applications
Agricultural and Livestock Buildings – Heat insulated hollow corrugated PC panels for shed roof withstand ammonia corrosion and chemical cleaning agents. The thermal air barrier avoids temperature spikes which is important for both animal comfort and uniform crop conditions.
Industrial Warehouses and Logistics Sheds – Used as main roofing or as daylight strips with opaque metal panels. Natural light comes in and interior temperatures are more steady, important when heat-sensitive goods is held below.
For railway platforms and sports facilities the hollow corrugated profile can take large wind loads and suppress rain noise, thus it is a useful choice for covered public infrastructure where single-skin metal or plastic would be too noisy or lead to heat build-up.
Quality Control Process
Each manufacturing lot undergoes multi-point inspection:
- UV Layer Thickness – Microscopic research shows the protective layer has a thickness of 50-104 microns.
- Impact Resistance – Structural integrity against hailstone impact shown by Falling ball test (ASTM D5420).
- Temperature Cycling – The hollow construction is exposed to temperature changes such that no delamination occurs.
- Light Transmission & Yellowing Index – Xenon arc weathering testing (ASTM G155) vs. original transparency standards.
- Geometric Precision The Wall thickness and corrugation pitch are checked for uniform overlap and watertight installation.
On arrival the raw material is checked. In-line production inspection. Final items are inspected prior to shipping.
Customization and Supply Options
Colour, UV coating face count, profile shape and sheet length are all configurable to request. Projects are not restricted to the conventional 840-wave corrugation and there are over 70 free moulds to choose from.
Other services like as CNC cutting, bending, film coating and special-shaped cutting are provided. OEM and ODM services are also available. These panels may be used for simple shed roofing as well as elaborate architectural applications.
The Kashgar manufacturing base often delivers in around 7 days for customers in Central Asia. Tashkent and Dushanbe have local warehouse stock for regional supplies.
Installation Notes
Proper installation details are critical to protecting long-term watertightness and panel service life.
Seal the ends of the hollow chamber first. After sealing the open ends of the hollow chambers with anti-dust vented tape, install U-profiles or flashings. This enables moisture vapour to escape while preventing dust, insects and rainfall from entering the channels.
For Heat insulated hollow corrugated PC panels for shed roof, a minimum roof slope of 5-10 degrees is advised so that rainwater will keep flowing and not get stuck in the wave troughs, which might create leaking at the screw sites over time.
Fix on the top, not the bottom; Drive screws always through the crest of the wave profile. Use EPDM backed storm washers for load distribution and to prevent crushing the hollow wall.
Oversize holes before drilling. Drill holes for fastening 2-3 mm bigger than the screw shank. Polycarbonate expands more than metal with temperature change and holes bored to identical shank size will break at the edge of the hole with time.
FAQ
Q: What is the difference between hollow corrugated and regular solid corrugated PC?
A: The difference is heat resistance. Solid corrugated sheet is sturdy, yet heat conducts through it easily. The hollow construction forms an air barrier that slows down heat transmission, improving comfort in working environments and protecting temperature sensitive storage items.
Q: How can I avoid condensation in the hollow channels?
A: Seal the open ends of the hollow chambers with anti dust vented tape before attaching U-profiles or flashings. This enables the sheet to breathe and release moisture vapour, while keeping out dust, insects, and water.
Q: Can I put these panels on a low pitch roof?
A: A minimum slope of 5–10° is suggested. Below this level, precipitation is likely to collect in the wave troughs and to create long-term leaking at fixing points.
Q: Will over-tightening screws damage the hollow structure?
A: Yup. Crest fastening uses polycarbonate washers backed with EPDM to distribute the load uniformly and avoid the hollow wall collapsing at the attachment point.
Q: How do I deal with thermal expansion during installation?
A: Pre-drill holes 2 to 3 mm bigger than the screw shank. This allows the sheet to move a little beneath the washer when temperatures vary, keeping the hole edge from buckling or breaking.
