Anti-Static Polycarbonate Sheet for ESD-Safe Industrial Glazing and Clean Enclosures
Thermoplastic anti-static polycarbonate sheet, often known as ESD polycarbonate, has a surface resistance of 106 to 109 ohms regardless of humidity. Direct manufacturer Baoding Sinhai Sunboard manufacturing Co., Ltd. has over 30 years of expertise. From 1.5 to 23 mm thick, the product may be as wide as 2,100 mm.
What Is Anti-Static Polycarbonate Sheet?
Standard polycarbonate may gather static electricity. This poses a real operational danger in electronics, pharmaceutical, and other facilities where airborne particles and ESD damage equipment.
Anti-static polycarbonate sheet features a co-extruded or integrated dissipative surface instead of a spray or coating. Topical treatments fade with repeated washing, while these sheets' permanent surface layer keeps their 106–109 ohm resistivity range under normal indoor operating conditions, independent of humidity. Controlled dry environments like semiconductor fabs and cleanrooms need stability, not a marketing pitch.

Performance Characteristics
Permanent ESD Control
The dissipative surface is not a coating added after extrusion. In indoor use the resistance stays consistent in the 10⁶ –10⁹ ohm range for the entire useful life of the sheet and is unaffected by frequent cleaning with the IPA or light solvents used in electronics settings.
Resistance to Impact
At 850 J/m, the sheet can survive mechanical blows that would break conventional glass. This makes it perfect for machine guards, conveyor covers, partition walls in heavy traffic manufacturing areas.
Optical Clarity
Visible light transmission = 80% to 88% for clear grades. That minimises the need for extra artificial illumination in cleanrooms and factory floors where visibility impacts safety and process control.
Range (thermal)
The sheet has a usable temperature range of -40 °C to +120 °C, including the temperature range experienced in most industrial indoor and refrigerated situations.
Cold Bending Capability
On site cold bending may be done with a minimum radius of 175 times the sheet thickness. Curved machine guards and enclosure panels may be manufactured without the need for thermal processing equipment.
Typical Applications
Semiconductor and Microelectronics Facilities
Cleanroom walls, desiccator cabinets, and IC test equipment covers should not charge sensitive components. Controlled charge decay of the anti-static polycarbonate sheet preserves surface resistivity in the dissipative area, allowing safe charge flow without buildup.
Guarding the Assembly Line Automatically
Static friction from high-speed lines may disrupt PLC sensors and cause material handling errors. ESD-safe, transparent shields guard critical control systems from electrostatic interference and allow operator visibility.
Drug and Medical Device Production
Charged surfaces attract and hold airborne particles in pollution-controlled locations. For manufacturing floor cleaning, the anti-static surface reduces particle adhesion on machine enclosures and conveyor coverings.
Other Usages
The material is ideal for signage, light diffusing panels, sound barriers, and daylighting strips where dust control is secondary yet important due to its impact resistance, light transmission, and static management.

Packaging and Shipping
Each sheet is covered with PE film on both sides and palletised on wooden pallets or in wooden boxes suitable for ocean freight. Baoding Sinhai has three manufacturing locations, including one in Kashgar that serves the Central Asian market with local delivery. Overseas warehouse resources in Tashkent and Dushanbe give significant logistical assistance to those locations. Sea, truck and air freight alternatives available.
Quality Control and Standards Participation
The quality of production is checked in three stages: inspection of incoming raw materials, in-process monitoring and inspection of final delivery. The parameters examined are: impact resistance, light transmittance, flame retardancy and weathering performance.
Baoding Sinhai was one of the key drafting units for the Chinese National Standard for Plastics - Polycarbonate Sheets, which was formally announced on September 29, 2024 and implemented on April 1, 2025.

FAQ
Q: Does dampness affect ESD performance?
A: No. Permanent surface technology works regardless of dampness. Surface resistance stays consistent between 10⁶-10⁹ ohms in dry and humid environments, unlike topical anti-static treatments that need moisture to act.
Q: What distinguishes "anti-static" from "static dissipative"?
A: Anti-static prevents charge production. Described as static dissipative (10⁶-10⁹ ohms), this material allows for safe draining of existing charges to ground. These sheets fulfil the industry requirement for ESD-sensitive situations, static dissipative.
Q: Can sheet be cold-bent for curved guards or enclosures?
A: Yes. The minimum radius for cold-bending is 175× of the sheet thickness. Bending below this radius strains the surface.
Q: How to clean the surface?
A: Mild soapy water, neutral detergent, or ESD-safe cleanser on a sensitive cloth. Avoid abrasives, high-concentration alcohols, and very alkaline substances on the dissipative surface layer.
Q: What thickness and colour options exist?
A: 1.5–23 mm is typical manufacturing thickness. 2,100-mm max width. Clear, lake blue, grass green, opal, bronze, grey. Each sheet uses virgin Bayer/Sabic PC resin.
