Frosted Polycarbonate Sheet for Partitions, Lighting & Glazing
Frosted polycarbonate sheet from Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has a consistent matte finish and an impact strength of 250-300 times that of glass. Our sheets are made from 100% virgin Bayer/Sabic PC resin and have a 50 µm UV layer that prevents UV below 380 nm. It is ISO 9001, CE, RoHS, and SGS-certified and comes in 0.8–18 mm thickness and 2.1 m width.
What Is a Frosted Polycarbonate Sheet?
Sandblasting or embossing rollers are used during extrusion to make the frosted finish. It is not applied as a film on top of the resin. There is no coating that can come off over time because the texture is part of the material itself.
Both design and industrial lighting have problems with LED point-source glare and being able to see surface wear in high-traffic areas. The smooth surface solves both of these problems. Light that hits the Frosted polycarbonate sheet is spread out evenly and softly, and the plastic base underneath the roughness keeps its full structural integrity.

Surface Finish and Light Performance
It comes with a flat finish on either one or two sides. The surface that is embossed or sandblasted not only looks better, but it also reduces surface friction and hides minor contact abrasion better than a polished finish. This is important for public space doors and walls.
As per ASTM D1003, the high haze factor breaks up LED point sources into even, shadow-free output across the diffuser surface. This is useful for lighting uses. The regular frosted grade lets 70% to 85% of light through while getting rid of visible hotspots. This makes it good for both architectural and industrial luminaire uses.
The texture is made directly in the polymer during production, not afterward. This means that it doesn't delaminate when it's cleaned or handled normally.
Applications
Architectural Interiors: Cabinet doors, office walls, shower stalls, and bathroom doors where modesty and natural light are needed. The material meets the standards for impact resistance that apply to public buildings.
Covers for street lights, diffusers for warehouse lighting, and machine lamp guards are all types of industrial LED lighting. The clear finish gets rid of LED point-source glare, which makes it easier to see in big work spaces.
Bus stops, booths, and outdoor show cases are all examples of outdoor signage and transit stations. The plastic base is strong enough to withstand impact in tough urban settings, and the frosted finish cuts down on sun reflection for better reading.
Furniture and Display—Light boxes, display panels, advertising panels, and decorative interior glazing are all examples of things that need even, diffused lighting.
Fabrication and Processing
It is possible to cold bend the Frosted polycarbonate sheet with a radius of at least 175 times the thickness of the sheet. Standard manufacturing tools can be used with CNC to cut, drill, engrave, and form.
Before you process the sheet for thermoforming, dry it at about 120°C to get rid of any moisture that it has absorbed. Controlling the temperature during this stage is important because too much heat during making can make the rough layer less deep.
Quality Control
Before being sent out, each batch of goods goes through four steps of inspection:
- Testing for Surface Uniformity Haze—A spectrophotometer check confirms that light spreads evenly across the whole sheet area.
- Measurement of the UV Layer's Thickness—A microscopic cross-sectional study shows that the co-extruded UV layer meets the 50 µm requirement.
- Validation of Impact Resistance: According to ISO 6603, falling dart tests show that the painting process has not caused any tiny cracks in the base material.
- Temperature cycling tests show that there is no delamination or warping across the rated service range of -40°C to +120°C.
Customization and Ordering
OEM and ODM services let you choose the colour, UV layer thickness, width, length, colour (clear, lake blue, grass green, opal, bronze, and grey), and surface roughness. There is secondary processing available, such as CNC cutting, film coating, bending, vacuum forming, and thermoforming.

FAQ
Q1: Does the frosting process change how strong the sheet is?
A: Not really. Surface texture is a change that only affects the surface and doesn't affect the strength or resistance to impact. The 850 J/m impact value of the base PC material stays the same after surface treatment.
Q2: What kinds of thicknesses and colours are there?
A: The most common thicknesses are 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 mm. The solid base comes in thicknesses up to 23 mm. Clear, lake blue, grass green, opal, bronze, and grey are some of the standard colours. The widest it can be is 2.1 m, and the length is cut to order. OEM/ODM lets you make your own specs.
Q3: How long does it take to get a standard or custom order?
A: Most orders are sent out within 7–15 days. It takes 15–20 days for custom colours. Timelines for rush orders can be negotiated based on sales and the current production plan.
Q4: How should I clean the item?
A: To clean, use warm water, a light, neutral soap, and a soft microfibre cloth. Do not use rough scrubbers because they can slowly lower the depth of the matte texture and make light scattering less effective.
Q5: What is the fire rating of the sheet for use in a commercial building?
A: Yes. According to GB 8624 and UL94 V-2, the fire rating is B1. It can be used for commercial interiors, office fit-outs, and public-space installations.
Q6: What are the main areas where it can be used?
A: In addition to the uses listed above for lighting and dividing rooms, it has also been used for machine guards, signs, light boxes, interior decoration, daylighting strips and bathroom walls.
