Flame Retardant Polycarbonate Sheet — B1 Grade, Self-Extinguishing, 10–20 Year Warranty
The practical solution is flame retardant polycarbonate sheet when the building rules, insurance needs or project specifications call for a glazing material that will not survive a flame. These are manufactured by Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a direct manufacturer with over 30 years of experience, three production bases, 25 production lines and annual output of more than 60,000 tonnes. The sheets are made from 100% virgin Bayer/Sabic PC resin and are B1 (GB 8624) and UL94 V-0/V-2 fire rated.
What Makes It Different from Standard Polycarbonate?
Standard plastic only has a basic grade for how easily it can catch fire. Flame retardant polycarbonate sheet is modified by flame-retardant additives, which are usually non-halogenated or phosphorus-based compounds, that are incorporated into the PC resin during extrusion rather than applied as a surface treatment.
In real life, this means that the sheet goes out on its own within seconds of the flame being turned off, makes little smoke, and doesn't drip with flames. In private or public areas, these features are not extras that can be chosen, they are needed by law.
The material is also a light, shatterproof option to metal or glass panels. It is fire-resistant and resistant to pressure all in one product.

Performance Characteristics
Fire Ratings: B1 and UL94 V-0
The sheet passes the UL94 V-0/V-2 and GB 8624 B1 tests for fire safety. It can't catch fire when oxygen levels in the air are normal, as shown by its limited oxygen index (LOI) of ≥28%. Under UL94 V-0 standards, the fire stops within 10 seconds of the flame being put out, and there are no flaming drips. This is a significant difference from V-2 standards, which allow drips that can ignite materials below.
Resistance to Impact
With an impact strength of 850 J/m, the sheet can handle a lot of force. This number shows how good the virgin Bayer/Sabic resin is, and it lets the material be used in places where glass would be likely to break, like in windows and doors.
Stability in Temperature
The temperature range of -40°C to +120°C means that it can be used in cold buildings, on industrial roofs, and in most outdoor installation settings without twisting, cracking, or losing its shape.
Sun Protection UV
The 50 μm co-extruded UV layer is not a top coat; it is part of the structure of the sheet. It stops UV rays below 380 nm and offers 98% to 100% UV protection, keeping polycarbonate from turning yellow and breaking over time when left outside.
How Light Gets Through
Light can pass through anywhere from 0% to 90%, depending on the colour and finish of the surface. With clear grades, a lot of natural light can enter a room while still meeting fire safety standards. This is hard to do with dark fire-rated options.
Typical Applications
Public Buildings and Infrastructure
Materials that can withstand both physical damage and fire spread are needed for things like sound barriers, tube lining panels, high-rise wall panelling, and ATM shelters. This sheet doesn't fail the GB 8624 B1 tests for these types of buildings.
Electronics and electricity
There are risks of internal arcing and thermal overload in high-voltage switchgear covers, battery enclosures, and busbar insulators. These risks are covered by the LOI ≥28% and UL94 V-0 rating.
A Lot of Transportation
FST (Flame, Smoke, and Toxicity) standards must be met by underground parts, train window glass, and aircraft inner panels. This sheet meets those requirements because it doesn't drip and has a low smoke density.
Interiors for businesses and factories
Inside, it's often used for machine guards, internal walls, light boxes, signs, and daylighting strips. The sheet can be used in a lot of different interior settings because it is clear, doesn't get damaged easily, and has a fire rating.
Customization and Supply
Flame retardant polycarbonate sheet is available in colours including clear, lake blue, grass green, opal, bronze, and grey. The thickness of the UV layer can be changed depending on the needs of the application. CNC cutting, film coating, bending, special-shaped cutting, vacuum making, and thermoforming are all part of our OEM and ODM services.
It takes 7–15 days to finish standard orders. It takes 15–20 days for custom colours. Based on how production is currently planned, rush orders can be talked about. You can get free samples, and the wait time for samples is 7–15 days.
For buyers from other countries, shipping by sea, truck, or air is all possible. Central Asian markets are served by warehouses in Tashkent and Dushanbe. Goods can be delivered from the Kashgar production base in about 7 days.
Quality and Certifications
There are three stages of inspection: receiving the raw materials, production in progress, and preparation for shipping. Some of the signs that are watched are resistance to contact, resistance to light transmission, resistance to flame, and resistance to weathering.
All of the certificates for ISO 9001:2015, CE, RoHS, and SGS are still valid. It was made by Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd., one of the main groups that worked on the Chinese National Standard for Plastics—Polycarbonate Sheets. It was released on September 29, 2024, and it became law on April 1, 2025. Every package comes with a warranty certificate good for 10 to 20 years.
FAQ
Q: What is the practical difference between UL94 V-0 and V-2?
A: Under V-0, burning stops within 10 seconds after flame removal and no flaming drips are permitted. Under V-2, flaming drips are allowed and can ignite secondary materials. For public spaces or electrical enclosures, V-0 provides a meaningfully higher level of fire containment.
Q: Does flame retardant modification reduce the sheet's impact strength?
A: The 850 J/m impact strength listed in the specifications applies to the FR-grade sheet as produced with virgin Bayer/Sabic resin. Customers requiring impact data for a specific thickness or application can request test documentation.
Q: Can these sheets be thermoformed or CNC-machined?
A: Yes. Thermoforming requires controlled temperature parameters to avoid affecting the FR additives. CNC cutting, drilling, engraving, and bending are supported. Cold bending is possible at a minimum radius of 175× the sheet thickness.
Q: What sizes and thicknesses are available?
A: Common thicknesses are 1.5 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 mm, up to 23 mm. Maximum width is 2,100 mm. Length is cut to order with no fixed maximum.
Q: Are color and dimension customization available, and how long does it take?
A: Thickness, width, length, color, and UV layer thickness are all customizable. Standard configurations ship in 7–15 days; custom colors take 15–20 days. Rush timelines can be discussed based on current production schedules.
Q: Will the sheet yellow outdoors over time?
A: The 50 μm co-extruded UV layer blocks radiation below 380 nm and provides 98%–100% UV protection. This is built into the sheet structure rather than applied as a coating, which helps maintain optical clarity over the warranty period.
