PC Skylight Sheet for Roofing & Daylighting
Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a direct manufacturer with 30+ years of polycarbonate sheet production experience, operating 3 production bases, 25+ lines, and an annual output of 60,000+ tons. Our pc skylight sheet is made from 100% virgin Bayer/Sabic PC resin with a 50μm co-extruded UV layer, offering light transmission from 0% to 90%, impact strength of 850 J/m, and a service temperature range of -40°C to +120°C. Thickness runs 4–25mm, max width 2.5m, cut to any length.
What Is a Polycarbonate Skylight Sheet?
A polycarbonate skylight sheet is a thermoplastic polymer material used in architecture to let in light. In comparison to regular glass, it is much lighter and more impact-resistant, which makes the structure of the roof lighter and easier to install. It lets in scattered natural light, keeps heat in, and gets rid of safety risks related to breaking for builders, workers, and building managers.

Performance Characteristics
Impact resistance.
This PC skylight sheet can handle 850 J/m of force without cracking from hail, mechanical stress, or heavy snow. When it hits something, the thermoplastic structure absorbs the force instead of breaking. This is the main safety difference between thermoplastic and glass in overhead uses.
UV defence is built into the sheet.
The 50µm co-extruded UV layer blocks light below 380nm, and it has been measured to do so 98% to 100% of the time. As the layer is co-extruded instead of surface-coated, it doesn't separate from the base sheet and peel, scratch, or break down. This makes sure that the product's colour and light transmission stay the same over time.
Controlling the temperature range and condensation.
The operating range of -40°C to +120°C includes both cold-weather sites and high-temperature factories. Multi-wall configurations stop heat from moving through the roof plane and keep the surface temperatures inside the channel structure above the dew point. This stops condensation from forming inside the channel structure.
Cold bending for systems that are bent.
Without any heating tools, the sheet can be cold bent into arch or barrel vault shapes. Curved skylights, domed atriums, and barrel roofs can be made on-site, so they don't have to be made ahead of time.
Typical Applications
Various building types and climates use this PC skylight sheet.
Industrial and transportation buildings: Roof panels let light into big parts of the building evenly. Vibrations and mechanical stress from industrial work don't damage the surface of the material.
For public and commercial atriums—Shopping malls, transit hubs, and indoor gardens use dome and pyramid roof shapes instead of glass because it would add too much weight to the structure. The high impact resistance also makes the area below safer for people who live or work there.
Places with rough weather—The material can take a lot of impact without breaking in places with heavy hail or strong winds. Even when bad weather happens, the building envelope stays intact.
Greenhouses and farm roofs: Light passage can be changed from 0% to 90%, so growers can choose the right amount of spread for each crop. The UV layer keeps the plants and the sheet surface safe.
It is also often used for stadium roofs, covered walks, carports, trellis roofs, light wells, and swimming pool structures.
Material Quality and Quality Control
There is no recycling or mixed plastic in any of the sheets; they are all made of brand-new Bayer/Sabic polycarbonate. This makes sure that the mechanical properties and colour stability stay the same from one production batch to the next.
There are three stages of quality control: receiving the raw materials, checking the work in progress, and delivering the finished product. Impact resistance, light transmittance, flame retardancy, and weathering resistance are some of the things that are checked. Ultrasound is used for the final check to measure the thickness of the UV co-extrusion layer.
They are UL94 V-2 and B1 (GB 8624) for fire safety. Because it doesn't spread flames and goes out on its own, the material can be used in fire-rated areas of commercial and industrial buildings.
They have ISO 9001, SGS, CE, and RoHS certifications.
Accessories and Installation Support
A complete pc skylight installation includes matching aluminum profiles, anti-dust tape, and fixing screws, all specified for skylight applications. Every order includes free node design drawings, waterproofing details, screw layout plans, and expansion-gap specifications.
Sheets are compatible with steel, aluminium, and timber structural frames. The node design addresses condensation and leak-prevention at the frame interface. Remote video guidance is available for standard projects; on-site support is available for large-volume orders.
Customization and Supply
Sheets are available in any thickness from 4 to 25mm, any cut length, and a range of colors and surface finishes. Custom light transmission levels from 0% to 90% can be specified to match design requirements.
OEM and ODM services include CNC cutting, film coating, bending, special-shaped cutting, and thermoforming. Standard orders are completed in 7–15 working days. With 3 production bases and 25+ production lines, large project volumes and mixed-container orders are accommodated within standard lead times.
FAQ
Q: What thickness and width options are available?
A: Thickness runs 4–25mm. Maximum width is 2.5m. Length is cut to project specification. Full node drawings are supplied with every order.
Q: Will the sheet yellow or become brittle over time?
A: The 50μm co-extruded UV layer blocks UV radiation below 380nm at a rate of 98%–100%. This is the primary mechanism that prevents yellowing and maintains material flexibility under outdoor exposure. The product carries a 10–20 year warranty.
Q: Is the sheet suitable for fire-rated zones?
A: Yes. It is rated B1 (GB 8624) and UL94 V-2, is self-extinguishing, and does not contribute to flame spread.
Q: Can it handle heavy snow loads?
A: Multi-wall structural ribbing distributes load across the sheet span. The appropriate thickness and span combination for a given load should be determined based on project-specific structural calculations.
Q: How is condensation managed?
A: Multi-layered cell structures combined with thermally broken aluminum frames keep the internal surface temperature above the dew point in properly installed systems.
Q: What installation support is included?
A: Every order includes node design drawings, waterproofing details, screw layout plans, and expansion-gap specifications. Remote video guidance is provided for standard installations. On-site support is available for large-volume projects.
