Light Diffusion Plastic Sheet (PC) — Soft, Even Light for LED and Architectural Applications
Light Diffusion Plastic Sheet made by Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Our product is made from 100% virgin Bayer/Sabic polycarbonate resin and precisely developed diffusing agents. The sheet offers haze values of 50% to 90%, light transmittance of 0% to 90% and service temperature of -40°C to +120°C. Available in thicknesses ranging from 1.5 mm to 12 mm (up to 23 mm on special order) and widths up to 2.1 m, it is designed for customers requiring constant optical performance during multiple manufacturing runs.
What Is a Light Diffusion Plastic Sheet?
A light diffusion plastic sheet is an optical-grade material that is designed to scatter light in numerous directions by establishing a refractive index mismatch between the basic polymer and embedded micro-diffuser particles.
This construction converts harsh LED hot spots into pleasant, even area illumination. It minimises the apparent glare, hides the internal lamp beads and enhances the homogeneity of the light as seen, without any substantial reduction in transmittance.
The PC-based structure has a UV co-extrusion layer of 50 μm, which filters the UV radiation below 380 nm, thereby resulting in an anti-UV rate of 98%–100%. This protects the sheet surface and the lighting components behind it.

Key Performance Characteristics
Controlled Optical Output
Haze levels from 50% to 90% offer you direct control over the extent of light dispersion. This range meets the UGR <19 standards often set for LED panel lighting in offices and healthcare facilities.
UV Stability -
Yellowness Index variation decreases in long-term LED exposure with the 50 µm UV co-extrusion layer with UV-stabilized resin. This helps to preserve colour consistency throughout the life of the sheet.
Resistance to Impact
The sheet has an impact strength of 850 J/m, thus it can withstand mechanical stress without breaking throughout its service temperature range of -40°C to +120°C. This makes it acceptable for cold storage conditions and locations near industrial heat sources.
Flexibility in Manufacturing
Suitable for cold bending (minimum radius 175sheet thickness). Suitable for CNC cutting, drilling, engraving, vacuum forming and thermoforming. These processes have characteristics of diffusion.
Direct Supply
We have 3 manufacturing sites and 25+ production lines and accept orders of 500 m2 and beyond with usual lead times of 7-15 days.
Applications
This light diffusion plastic sheet is used in several lighting and construction applications:
- Commercial LED Panel Lights - workplaces and healthcare institutions that need gentle, consistent light across huge ceiling areas
- Digital Signage and Slim Lightboxes – allows LEDs to be positioned closer to the diffuser surface without causing bright spots or shadows, even in outdoor high-heat conditions
- Automotive Interior Systems — dashboard displays and ambient illumination for thermal stability and vibration resistance
- Architectural Daylighting - roofing panels, skylights, canopies, pergolas, dividers, corridor cladding
- Industrial Use – machine guards, sound barriers and daylighting strips
- Signage and Advertising – light boxes, shop display panels and interior ornamental surfaces
Quality Control Process
Each manufacturing batch is inspected in five phases before shipment:
- Spectrophotometer Testing — Batch-to-batch colour temperature constancy is ensured by Delta E measurement.
- Optical Performance Verification – Measured under ASTM D1003 for Haze and Transmittance verification to prescribed values.
- QUV (Accelerated Weathering Tests) – replicates circumstances of UV exposure and measures changes in Yellowness Index over time.
- Thickness Tolerance Check – ultrasonic gauges have a tolerance of ±0.05 mm for a tight fit in extruded aluminium profiles.
- Surface Purity Inspection: Check for black spots, bubbles or surface scratches using high intensity light scanning to eliminate sheets.
The incoming raw material is also inspected. Production contains 100% virgin Bayer/Sabic PC resin.
Customization and OEM/ODM
You may specify thickness, breadth, length, colour, haze level, UV layer thickness, etc. Standard colours include clear, lake blue, grass green, opal, bronze and grey.
Standard bespoke orders arrive in 15-20 days. If your project is time important, please contact us to discuss the timescales. Support in-house CNC cutting, film coating, bending, special-shaped cutting and thermoforming.
Upon request we may provide technical documents such as 3D design files and installation drawings.
FAQ
Q1: What material is this sheet composed of? What thicknesses are available?
A: Sheet is produced from 100% virgin Bayer/Sabic PC resin. Standard thicknesses are 1.5 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 mm, special orders up to 23 mm. Max width 2.1m, length to your standard.
Q2: What are the differences between PC and PMMA light diffusion sheets?
A: The impact strength of PC is greater 850 J/m . The fire rating of PC is UL94 V-2 . PMMA often gives better light transmission and intrinsic UV stability without a coextrusion layer. Which is better will rely on the structural, thermal and fire compliance needs of your application.
Q3: Do you provide size and colour customisation? How long is the lead time ?
A: Yes. Thickness . Width . Length . Colour . UV layer thickness . Standard orders 7-15 days, bespoke colour orders 15-20 days. Need to meet urgent project deadlines? Call us.
Q4: What are the major uses of this sheet?
A: Standard applications: Machine guards, partitions, signs, light boxes, interior decorating panels, sound barriers, daylighting strips, bathroom dividers, LED panel coverings, thin advertising displays etc.
Q5: Is the sheet able to be bent/thermoformed?
A: Yes. The sheet may be vacuum formed, thermoformed, cold bent (radius 175 sheet thickness), CNC cut, drilled and engraved without losing its diffusion qualities.
Q6: How do I choose the proper diffusion grade for my fixture?
A: Use the L/H ratio as a guide: Divide the spacing between LED sources by the distance from the LED to the sheet. Deeper fixtures often need lower haze (near to 70%) to be able to hide hotspots entirely. Deeper fittings may accept medium or low diffusion grades with increased transmittance.
