Clear Solid PC Sheet for Glazing, Roofing & Security
With more than 25 extrusion lines and an annual output of more than 60,000 tonnes, Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd. produces clear solid PC sheet on three production bases. Each panel is made from 100% new Bayer or Sabic PC resin. They come in thicknesses ranging from 0.95 mm to 23 mm, let up to 90% of light through, and have an impact strength of 850 J/m, which is about 250 times that of regular glass. The method of making the product is regulated by ISO 9001:2015, CE, RoHS, and SGS.
What Is a Clear Solid PC Sheet?
A product is a single-layer, solid panel made by forcing high-viscosity polycarbonate plastic through a die. Unlike hollow multi-wall sheets, this material doesn't have any air channels inside; it's solid and the same all the way through.
Its structure makes it almost as clear as glass, but it also gets around problems that regular window materials can't. When it hits something, tempered glass can suddenly and catastrophically break. Acrylic is not tough enough to be used for structural safety. Without significantly reducing light transmission, a clear solid PC sheet provides impact strength that is about 250 times that of glass at a weight of about half.
Architectonic glass, machine guards, security walls, covering platforms, and noise barriers are all common uses. These are all situations where both clarity and mechanical sturdiness are needed.

Product Characteristics
Impact resistance
At 850 J/m, the panel can take hits from hammers, rocks, and other high-speed objects without breaking. Because of this, it can be used for machine guards, security glazing, and riot protection where panel fragmentation is not acceptable.
Performance in optics
On clear screens, up to 90% of light can pass through. At production, the Yellowness Index is less than 1. The UV protection is co-extruded and not just put on top, so it doesn't come off when you clean or the weather gets rough.
Layer of UV protection
The 50 μm UV co-extrusion layer stops radiation below 380 nm and comes with a 10-year warranty against yellowing. Co-extrusion builds the UV layer into the surface of the panel while it is being made, instead of putting it later.
Stability in temperature
The service range for panels is -40°C to +120°C, which means they stay the same size in both hot and cold climates. The thermal expansion coefficient for large-format panels is 0.065 mm/m°C, which should be used to figure out the frame gap allowances.
The ability to cold bend
Without any hot tools, the sheet can be bent on-site. The smallest radius that can be cold-bent is 175 times the width of the sheet. This size allows for most curved roof and arched window designs.
How fire acts
UL94 V-2 and GB 8624 rate it B1. The panel stops burning on its own when the flame source is taken away, so it doesn't help the fire spread.
Quality Control
Every production run goes through several stages of review, including checking the raw materials, watching the extrusion, and making sure everything is okay before shipping.
Things that are inspected are:
- Tolerance for thickness: checked with a digital micrometre to within ±5%
- The covering gauge was used to measure the thickness of the UV layer and confirm the 50 µm co-extrusion layer.
- Testing for impact: The Falling Dart Impact Test (ASTM D3763) to confirm the rated impact performance
- Optical purity: looking for spots, bubbles, or surface flaws by sight and with instruments
- Spectrophotometer tests will be done to make sure that the Yellowness Index (YI) stays below 1.0 at delivery.
Using only brand-new Bayer or Sabic resin and no recycled material helps keep the mechanical and optical properties consistent from batch to batch.
Application Scenarios
Industrial safety
The panel's ability to receive moving energy without breaking up is used in machine guards and safety screens. Its 850 J/m impact strength makes it a good choice when designing something that needs to protect people from mechanical hazards.
Glazing for buildings and infrastructure
Panels that can stand up to UV light and sustained wind loads are needed for highway noise barriers, stadium skylights, and canopy roofs. The panels must also be clear to see through. With thicknesses ranging from 3 mm to 23 mm, you can get glass that is both light and strong.
Walls and windows on the inside
Bathroom walls, office dividers, hallway panels and interior daylighting strips can all benefit from the glass-like look, as well as the lighter weight and lower risk of breaking while being handled and installed.
Moving Things
Clear solid PC sheet is used for windows in high-speed trains and other transportation uses because it is light, doesn't catch fire easily, and keeps its shape over time.
Signs and advertising
The high and even light transmission makes the illumination even across the panel face, which is useful for light boxes and backlit signs.
Customization and OEM Services
You can choose the thickness, width, length, and colour to fit the needs of your project. Clear, lake blue, grass green, opal, bronze, and grey are some of the colours that are available. You can also change the amount of the UV coat if you want to.
Some processing services are:
- The CNC can cut, chamfer, drill, and engrave.
- Bending and cutting in unique shapes
- Making shapes with vacuum and heat, printing OEM logos on PE protective film
- Hard covering that doesn't scratch (surface hardness 1H–3H)
Orders usually get sent out in 7–15 days. It takes 15–20 days to get custom colour orders. If you need it, you can get a list of rush order deadlines. Shipping can be done by sea, truck, or air, and logistics help is provided for clearing customs and delivering goods across borders. Central Asian buyers can get their orders faster thanks to warehouses in Tashkent and Dushanbe.
FAQ
Q: Will the panel turn yellow over time?
A: These panels use a co-extruded 50 μm UV protection layer that blocks 98%–100% of UV radiation below 380 nm. This is covered by a 10-year anti-yellowing warranty. Because the UV layer is co-extruded rather than applied as a coating, it remains intact through normal cleaning and outdoor exposure.
Q: What thickness and width options are available?
A: Common thicknesses are 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12 mm, with options up to 23 mm. Maximum width is 2,100 mm. Length is cut to your order with no fixed maximum.
Q: Can the sheet be cold-bent during installation?
A: Yes. The minimum cold-bending radius is 175 times the sheet thickness. Standard curved installations do not require heating equipment.
Q: What is the fire rating?
A: The sheet is rated B1 under GB 8624 and UL94 V-2. It is self-extinguishing and does not promote flame spread.
Q: Is size and color customization supported?
A: Yes. Thickness, width, length, and color can all be specified. Standard lead time is 7–15 days; custom colors take 15–20 days.
Q: How do I account for thermal expansion during installation?
A: The linear thermal expansion coefficient is 0.065 mm/m°C. Frame designs for large-format panels should include adequate expansion gaps to prevent buckling under temperature changes.
Q: What is the resin source?
A: Panels are made from 100% virgin Bayer or Sabic PC resin. No recycled material is used, which supports consistent mechanical and optical performance across batches.
