Anti-Scratch Polycarbonate Sheet — Hard Coat PC Sheet for Industrial & Commercial Glazing
Baoding Sinhai Sunboard Manufacturing Co., Ltd.'s anti-scratch polycarbonate sheet has a siloxane-based or UV-cured hard layer with a 100% virgin Bayer or Sabic PC core. The hard coat provides a surface hardness of 2H–3H (pencil scale) and the PC core provides an impact strength of 850 J/m. Standard PC and acrylic alone cannot offer the same combination of scratch resistance and shatter resistance. Transmittance is 85%–90% (ASTM D1003) and the sheet can be used from −40 °C to +120 °C.
What Is Anti-Scratch Polycarbonate Sheet?
Standard polycarbonate is commonly used for its impact strength, although the surface is rather soft and scratches easily from everyday cleaning, ambient grit and repeated contact. Surface abrasion causes gradual deterioration of optical quality and service life.
This problem is solved with anti-scratch polycarbonate sheet by using a siloxane-based or UV-cured hard coating on one or both surfaces. The coating increases pencil hardness from sub-HB on untreated PC to 2H–3H, and also enhances resilience to typical industrial cleansers, alcohols and petroleum-based solvents that would craze or cloud an uncoated surface.

Surface Performance Testing
4 standard tests are done in each batch of production. Here are the results you will be getting with your order documentation.
Taber Abrasion (ASTM D1044) Delta haze growth is still less than 4% after 100 cycles with CS-10F wheels at 500 g load, which means the surface is optically clear despite repeated cleaning.
Cross-Hatch Adhesion (ASTM D3359) - The coating is scored and tape-pulled to demonstrate that it will not delaminate under mechanical stress or thermal cycling.
Pencil Hardness (ASTM D3363): All batches are qualified at ≥ 2H and premium hard coat grades are qualified at 3H.
Accelerated Weathering (ASTM G154): The UV stabilised coating is evaluated for yellowing and embrittlement resistance, which is important for installations in outdoor and semi-outdoor environments.
Also optical distortion analysis is carried out to ensure that the coating process has not introduced any visual aberrations, which is important for safety glazing and display applications where sight line clarity is a need.
How Hard Coat PC Compares to Standard PC and Acrylic?
On the pencil scale , standard acrylic is harder than untreated PC . But it is brittle upon impact . Standard PC handles impact well, but scratches readily. This hard coat sheet is at the intersection: Pencil Hardness 2H-3H Impact Strength 850 J/m.
For applications that require both scratch and shatter resistance, such as machine guards, public glazing and transit panels, the combination is worth considering over alternatives that provide only one of the properties.
Application Scenarios
Machine Guards and Industrial Equipment
Guards in CNC machining facilities are exposed to grit, oil mist and metal particles. The 2H–3H hard coat keeps the surface pristine, giving operators an unimpeded line of sight over a shift.
Touch Panels and Display Covers
Hundreds of finger interactions and cleaning cycles are endured each day by retail kiosks, museum cases and touch screen coverings. The display won’t end up blurry as time goes on, with less than 4% delta haze after 100 abrasion cycles.
Public Transit and Architectural Glass
Bus windows, train partitions and airport interiors are doomed to frequent mechanical cleaning and touch with passengers. The hard coat retains optical clarity under high traffic circumstances and the PC core absorbs impact.
Other Uses of
Anti-scratch polycarbonate sheet is used for signage, toilet stalls, sound walls, daylighting strips, interior decorative panels, and protection shields. The thickness range of 0.95–23 mm encompasses everything from light-weight canopy glazing to heavy-duty safety barriers.
Customization and Order Options
We accept OEM and ODM orders at Sinhai. You have the following options for each order:
- Thickness: 0.95-23 mm including: 1.5 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 mm
- Available in: Clear, lake blue, green grass, opal, bronze, grey
- Finish: Hard coat single or double-sided
- Production: CNC cutting, drilling, engraving, bending, special-shaped cutting, vacuum thermoforming MOQ: 500 m2
- Payment: T/T 30% deposit+70% balance. L/C accepted.
- Lead time: Standard 7-15 days; Custom colours 15-20 days; Rush schedules available upon request
- Samples: Free samples available , Sampling lead time: 7-15days
Note: Cold bending The hard coating increases the surface tension. To minimise crazing of the coating, the bending radius should be limited to a minimum of 300 times the sheet thickness.

FAQ
Q1: Is the sheet cold-bendable on site?
A: Yes, but the minimum bending radius of the hard coating is 300 times the thickness of the sheet. If you remain below this limit the coating will not crack or craze during installation.
Q2: What type of cleaning will protect the hard coat ?
A: With a soft cloth and a little light soap and water. Do not use very alkaline cleaners and harsh scourers which can damage the covering surface even on a coated sheet.
Q3: Does the hard coat effect the fire rating?
A: No. It retains its UL 94 V-2 rating and B1 certification according to GB 8624, thus is still suitable for public buildings and business interiors.
Q4. What is possible in terms of customisation and how long does it take?
A: You can choose the thickness, width, length, colour and UV layer thickness. Custom colours 15-20 days. 7-15 days for standard order. Reach out to us to discuss rush timelines.
Q5: Does the order include certification documents?
A: Yes. Certificates of ISO 9001, SGS, CE and RoHS can be supplied on request and a warranty certificate is sent with the product.
